Old Custom House

Only opened about 4 weeks ago under new management so ignore all comments prior to this. This restaurant is worth the journey if you are visiting anywhere in Devon. Could not fault the food, service and atmosphere in any way. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended to anyone who loves excellent food. I have eaten in some wonderful restaurants in London, Hampshire and abroad and I rate this restaurant as one of my favourites.

not really sure what this place is trying to be. the coffee and cake in the monring is ok then it goes to a really expensive al a carte menu later on. the decor is ok, but nothing really invites me to spend any time in here. it is a little out of the way. parking is a nightmare

But it looks like it should still be open because they haven't papered over the windows or anything like that. It's quite an interesting building inside and possibly one of the oldest in the town so it would be nice for it to be put to some use again one day.

Now that the strand is potentially closed to cars, how on earth will this place survive?? I would like to say I have been there, but cant as its not in a part of town that people actually visit. such a bad location for an eatery. Infact whenever i have driven past it never seems to be open. As a family we take bets as to wether it EVER does
