Tight

I've never been up the oxo tower, it's not really my idea of fun. But a mate of mine took his girlfriend up there recently. Apparantly she wasn't too keen to start with, but once they got going she really got into it.

He'd wanted to go for ages and really had to nag her into giving it a whirl.

They haven't been since but she's not said no to giving it another try when she's in the right mood.

A surprise birthday

Mates of mine took me up for my birthday a few years ago. I had no idea where we were going, then we arrived at this restaurant and I was blown away. The staff, the food, the building, it's truly incredible. If you know someone with a special occasion coming up.... blow them away - take them here!

Excellent views

Sophie S. says:

This is a really great experience. The restaurant itself is fabulous, great food, really good service and excellent layout and feel of the whole place. What makes it even more special is the view of the South Bank and River looking out as far as you can see. The location here is everything, and it makes this restaurant a must go to

Great Birthday

I went to the oxo tower for the first time on Sunday night for a friends birthday. I thought it was an excellent venue for this type of occasion. The food was great! I liked the idea of a set menu as it ment your food was with you promptly and the choice of wines is vast! The view over the river and the surrounding areas of London is spectacular.I am sooooo looking forward to going back on a summers afternoon, sitting on the balcony with a lovely glass of vino watching the hustle and bustle from a safe distance!

this place serves a very good purpose and its all about the panoramic windows. the food is fine and the bar is buzzy and fun - and the barmen tend have rather interesting facial furniture - but its all about the views over the river and the city beyond. a great place to take someone new to london if you want to impress them!

Vino on the River

2*

Joanna H. says:

Having a glass of wine at the top of the OXO Tower always seems like a beautiful way to spend an evening after work...and last night I went with a friend. We got there about 6 and it was already heaving, and even thought the brasserie was empty and apparently fully booked all night we couldn't have a drink there...you have to go to the bar which unfortunately isn't on the river side so the views aren't quite so good. We managed to squish in in between tables to get a seat and ordered our drinks...they have very nice wine! The olives however were priced as £6.50 which is somewhat ridiculous! Online it says they're only £2.90, so we questioned if there was another menu or if olives are infact more expensive than wine! Turns out there's a mistake on the menu and they are £2.90...and very tasty when they arrived! The rest of the evening was lovely, although it did get very very busy, and the brasserie didn't seem to be full at any point (I think you should be able to sit there for just a drink!) When it came to getting the bill it turned out someone else had paid our bill and we were left with someone elses...which was 3 times the price of ours! Obviously raised this little issue, and then after asking that we split the bill, they put it all through on one card and got very annoyed when we asked that that not be the case! A very huffy manager then cancelled the transaction very unhappily and let us pay separately, after joking that they need people to wash up for the evening...don't think he quite got the fact that we could pay, and they'd made all the mistakes all night.

A wee bit diaaspointed that the evening ended like that, as I've been there before and its usually lovely! The food when you eat there is very nice, in summer you can go out on the balcony for drinks which means the bar isn't so full...this certainly helps!
