<![CDATA[East Midlands - Blaby - Meridian Business Park - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Fraud Anyone? http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/blaby/meridian-business-park/electrical-store/pc-world-le191hy.html#r57061 My sister's Compaq laptop decided to give up the ghost at the very start of August this year, and as she had PC World's very own 'Coverplan by The Tech Guys' insurance cover, she arranged for it to be repaired. Pretty straight forward if you ask me, a former employee of Currys (PC World's sister company). In hindsight, I think to myself whether I could have been anymore mistaken.

Firstly, PC World forwarded the wrong insurance details (mine in actual fact) to Tech Guys. An easy mistake to make, and one equally easy to rectify in my opinion: just send the write details. But no, we received phone calls from The Tech Guys telling us that they refused to perform any work on the laptop until they received the correct details. Why they were blaming us for this, I do not know, as it was nothing to do with us. My parents spent hours on the phone to The Tech Guys (on a premium rate phone number, which cost them tens of pounds) trying to sort out PC World's mistake, and in the end, the right insurance details were sent.

At last we thought the hassles were over, but alas, this was not so. The Coverplan documents state that if they cannot repair your product within six weeks of receiving it, then vouchers to it's value will be sent to you for you to purchase a new laptop. Tech Guys had already had the laptop for over six weeks, and no sign repaired product OR vouchers. It was at this point that my dad got a bit annoyed (understatement) and went down to PC World to complain, but to no avail, the monkeys (in fact, monkeys would have done a better job than these 'people' who had the brain power of an educationally challenged amoeba) who PC World employ were not exactly helpful to say the least.

Another month later, we receive my sisters laptop, supposedly repaired. My sister was at work when it arrived and luckily I was in, so I signed for it. I turn it on to find that not only had it not been fixed, but it was now in a worse state than it was when we sent it in. Again, we call Tech Guys and want answers, but get none. Eventually they agree to send us vouchers, and to our surprise, the vouchers arrived before the week was out. So down we go to PC World, safe in the knowledge that our ordeal was over, but when we get there, the laptop that had been offered to us (as a 'similar spec') was not in stock, so we had to wait another week.

A week passed, and it was still not in stock. So we are offered a different one (a better one), and are told that they had no stock, and would get one sent down from Barnsley. We get a call a week later, saying it had arrived, and to come and collect it the next day, but when we went the next day, the laptop (which had been labelled as 'sold' so it wouldn't get sold) had been sold to someone else. Then a few days later, my mum calls the store directly, and speaks to one of the management, called Andrew Bagworth, and he said they have another one, so my sister and dad went to collect it.

It is at this point that I would like to point out that Mr Bagworth was the saving grace of PC World, if it had not been for him, it is very likely that Watchdog and Trading Standards would've have been involved.

The laptop they received had apparently, accidentally been sent to the Tech Guys to be repaired and the Tech Guys had opened it, but not touched it. When my sister brought it home and opened the box, the AC adapter was missing, and when she turned the laptop on (using my AC adapter) it came up with the user login screen, naming the user as PC World. I don't know about you, but since when do brand new laptops come with a user name a password already installed from the store you buy it from?

As I said before, I am a former Currys employee and know that the only reason this would occur is if the laptop is ex display. Which would also explain why the box had been opened, and why the AC adapter was missing. Again, my mum calls PC World and speaks to Mr Bagworth, who was extremely helpful. My parents go in the next day and speak to him in person, and as it happens, I was right. (the reason I point this out is because I'm not often proved right, and I want to make the most of it).

The laptop we had been given was ex display (and incidentally, as it had been given to us under the pretense that it was brand new, PC World had committed fraud) and Mr Bagworth gave us a brand new one out of the warehouse and promised to get to the bottom of what had happened. After three months, things were finally resolved.

I won't be going to PC World any time soon.

This is not the first time PC World and The Tech Guys have done this sort of thing. Last year, the hard drive on my own Compaq laptop got fried so I sent it in for repair. No delay, but when I got it back they had replaced my 120GB hard drive with an 80GB one. 40GB less memory. I was not a happy bunny. To this day it has not been resolved.

best pizza hit http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/blaby/meridian-business-park/pizza-restaurants/pizza-hut-le191hy.html#r54309 This is the best pizza hut in leicester. i think its because they specialize in small pizzas. they are quick to cook and dont cook to order, so there's always the pizza you want available. Much better than the bigger Pizza Hut Restaurants.

They have some pretty good deals on when you buy multiple pizzas and free drinks refills too.

Poor show http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/blaby/meridian-business-park/pizza-restaurants/pizza-hut-le191ww.html#r54285 Sory, I really cant say much good about this one. Service takes a very long time if you're eating in, even takeaway pizza's are longer than expected. The last pizza I had was soggy. I expect to get a nice crispness to it when you pay over a tenner each. My advice - Go to Domino's!

Forgetful and slow http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/blaby/meridian-business-park/pizza-restaurants/pizza-hut-le191ww.html#r52988 As a regular visitor to various food outlets (including other Pizza Huts) the Pizza Hut at Meredian Leisure Park, you can guarantee that they don't pay enough customer attention, tend to forget part of your food order and we have even been brought food that hasn't been ordered. On the occasions that we have come here, we have had to ask for customer attention for the rest of the order, drinks or even the bill.

We thought our incident was a one off so we gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried again but to no avail, once again being given the wrong order and only part of it.

Everything you need http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/blaby/meridian-business-park/miscellaneous/boots-le191hq.html#r30490 This boots is MASSIVE so if you're popping in for an eye cream you'll find yourself in there a while... but this would be perfect if you've got a load of birthday presents to buy or you've got some time to spare. It's got SO much choice. The makeup counters seem to go on forever (they have an Yves Saint Laurent so you can get your Touche Eclait in here) and stock every fake tan you can think of (apart from fake bake, the buggers!) The points boots offer are the best around so I always go here. Plus this one has a huge selection of face masks which I force my partner to try out with me - he loves it. Loads of staff on too so no long queues...

Coffee Crazy! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/blaby/meridian-business-park/cafes/starbucks-le191ww.html#r21096 I Absolutly love the fact Leicester has a Starbucks inside Borders bookstore. Its the perfect place to go and read while enjoying a fab Starbucks coffee. The Hazlenut Latte is my favourite along with a slice of Rocky Road Cake. Can't have too many tho as we will get fat!! The only downside to it is that it is so popular around lunchtime the queue can be really bad but the guys behind the counter are whizz's at making these coffee's so it goes down quite quickly. There is also plenty of seats for you to read your newly purchased books.

Its small but extremly friendly with really helpful indtructor who will show you the ropes. The good thing about it is, its not your big "look at me" type gym and its affordable. Definatlry would recommend to all ages.

Super Restaurant http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/blaby/meridian-business-park/pizza-restaurants/pizza-hut-le191ww.html#r21005 Pizza hut at Grove farm Triangle is a great place to take the family for a bite to eat. Especially since it has recently been refurbished, the place looks as fresh as the food and the new improvements to the menu are fab too. The only gripe I have is that its always busy on a Friday and saturday evening and they don't take bookings, so i guess thats a chance you have to take!! I Recommend the Stuffed Crust super Supreme.. its excellent!

As You Like It http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/blaby/meridian-business-park/supermarkets/sainsburys-le191wt.html#r18378 My first choice supermarket in Leicester.

Good location if you live or work in Meridian, easier to get to than Asda and a more spacious lay-out than Asda.

It is not a 24-hour supermarket, so if you're up for some twilight shopping, try Asda.

Want lunch? If you want to nip into Sainsburys for a sandwich during your lunch hour then get there early (or try somewhere else) as they don't replenish their sandwich stock during the lunch rush (why?).

Typical extras include a clothing range (good for the basics), chart CDs, DVDs and video games plus fairly-priced white goods.

Sainsburys Grove Farm Triangle also have a currency kiosk where you can order/collect holiday money. I have not tried this service yet.

There is a large car park with some disabled and parent/child spaces. Toilets are located instore along with a cafe, which seems popular.

Two cash machines can be found outside the store, to the left of the trolley park. There is a petrol station on site with a small convenience store- You can use your Nectar card, too.
