<![CDATA[Greater London - Barnet - East Finchley - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Really the best http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/barnet/east-finchley/other-restaurants/indian-rasoi-n29hg.html#r56737 I'd given up on a really good restaurant opening up in this location - many had come and gone, never getting it right. My father actually forced me to go in when Indian Rasoi opened, and now he revels in the story whenever we go out for family meals there. It really is the best Indian restaurant in London. Try to go outside busy times as it can get quite hectic. I'm so pleased that they're doing so well as it's a hard location to work with. It's definitely worth the walk from the tube!

Best Chinese Take Away in East Finchley http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/barnet/east-finchley/chinese-restaurants/kungs-n29pn.html#r56079 Kungs rules! They always wave at me when i walk past and they make excellent food at quality prices. Plus the head chef Hong Kong Harry has the best monicker of any fast food chef in the world ever. One day i will make food for him (using his own wok!), and then the circle will be complete. Also they play chinese dominoes in the shop window till the late hours when they close up, and thats hardcore.

best in london http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/barnet/east-finchley/other-restaurants/indian-rasoi-n29hg.html#r52921 Definitely the best indian restaurant in London. Presentation is unbeatable and prepares you for the tastiest of dishes with herbs and spices making the meat , fish , shellfish and vegetables absolutely delicious. Specials , when available , have included rabbit , quail , venison and scallops a delight totally unexpected and so much more tasty for being such a delicious surprise. Run by Ali and Mustapha who know how to charm their customers and run a tight ship with delightfully friendly staff who know how to take care of their customers. Thank you for many delightful meals.

Bland and over-priced http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/barnet/east-finchley/pubs/clissold-arms-n29hr.html#r52839 I'd read a few good reviews (on other sites) of the food in this recently gastro-ized pub so I gave it a go.

The decor's bland, the food blander. I had the vegetable lasagne and my compadre had the gorgonzola macaroni. Both lacked flavour and were comically over-priced. Maybe we picked the token vegetarian dishes but that shouldn't be an excuse. My starter was an expensive asparagus, hollandaise, poached egg combo. It looked like it had been throw together without a care and was tepid by the time it reached me...

... which brings me on to the service, which was generally poor too. With chefs calling "SERVICE PLEASE!" to the point of exasperation, waitresses unsure as to where dishes were going and the head waiter struggling to keep control. The restaraunt wasn't even full :(

One final point - the tables are packed into the dining room at the rear of the building and too close to each other for comfort. It's hard to hold a conversation because the background noise is too overpowering.

I can't imagine I'd be going back to The C Lissold Arms to eat again in a long time. Especially since the Bald Faced Stag down the road is a much more pleasurable (and much more VFM!) experience.

fantastic food http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/barnet/east-finchley/other-restaurants/indian-rasoi-n29hg.html#r49903 Tried this place by mistake, its slightly off the beaten track. The food was fantastic, a great smaller menu than normal and lots more effort put into those fewer dishes. I was very impressed. Tasted fresh and could taste all the flavours. Very good. Ive been back twice since and its always as good. Its also getting busier, it is getting harder to book a table. worth the try though

An Unexpected Surprise http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/barnet/east-finchley/other-restaurants/indian-rasoi-n29hg.html#r44022 My fiancee and I stumbled across this place yesterday on our anniversary and popped our head inside to discover a new and stylish looking restaurant which encouraged us to eat there later after going to see Mongol at the Phoenix Cinema. When we went back we were pleased to see that it was busy (a sunday too) as this is usually a good sign... Once we had ordered all ..well all I can say is that we were blown away by the food and must say it was simply amazing, and we put this alongside our experience of having eaten at 'Benares' which is Atul Kochhar's 3 Star restaurant...For staters we had onion bargees always a classic and they were the best we've ever eaten, being really fresh seasoned with herbs and spices and that had a lovely light and pleasant after taste that was most satisfying. For our mains we both had a chicken dish each and again we were amazed by the perfect balance of flavours and freshness....simply a stunning meal...and we thoroughly recommend it to anyone that loves indian food but also is looking for quality at an affordable price. They also have a wine list that caters specifically for indian cusine which was a nice touch too. We will definitely be going back again and to be honest we can't wait. Excellent.
