<![CDATA[Greater London - Brent - Wembley - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Finally..... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/stadiums/wembley-stadium-ha90ws.html#r42611 Well it took long enough but let me say, it was well worth the wait.

I went to the Community Shield here last season and it was superb. Unlike the old Wembley, they have real toilets so you don't have to go up against the wall. They also have proper seats and not benches like before so eveyrone has a good view. Some bits are VERY steep so it looks a bit like matchstick men.

The walk from the station brings back memories, a great day out and even better if your team wins...

I wos ere' http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/stadiums/wembley-stadium-ha90ws.html#r42498 My experience of the new Wembley was all good, probably because I was a guest in the corporate "Club Wembley" section tucking into a 5 course pre-match dinner washed down with the finest wine and champagne after which I was shown to a bucket sized seat situated right on the half way line. If only every trip to the footie was like that.

I have to say the new Stadium is awesome and my experience was amazing, although the journey home proved painful after England were comprehensively beaten by Croatia on the night, therefore missing out on a place in the Euro 08 finals.

To put it in perspective though, many of my mates tell me that for non-hospitality supporters the food and drink on offer is expensive.

Not all that I was hoping it'd be... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/entertainment-centres/wembley-arena-ha90dh.html#r42380 I was lucky enough to see the musical legend that is George Michael here last Summer, and he was amazing, just like his song. What let the show down was the awful sound system which didn't project around the stadium well enough to justify the artist. I was also really irritated by the fact that it's on the wrong side of London for me, and therefore really difficult to get back from late on a Sunday evening. I'm guessing that coming here for footie would be awesome, but for gigs I wouldn't bother going again.

Randon Treasure trove http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/diy-shops/j-hardware-shoe-repairs-ha02ll.html#r41709 This local hardware cum shoe repaires/drycleaners shop is a relative treasure trove of unusual goodies. The owner will cut you new keys, mend your shoe heels, alter your party dress and still be able to sell you stuff to clear a drain or garden weeds.

Old fashioned out dated but great for your reapirs.

Small and basic http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/libraries/barham-park-library-ha02hb.html#r41419 This does what it says on the tin but it is small (or Bijou in Estate agent speak) so if you intend to use it for study get there early to get a table. Good for younger kids with well stocked books, dvd's and reading club. Use it or lose it..

The Cathedral Of Football http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/stadiums/wembley-stadium-ha90ws.html#r41383 I’ve been lucky enough to have been to the new stadium 5 times now, twice in the corporate ‘Club Wembley’ section and the normal areas. Make no mistake, this is an awe-inspiring stadium. From the moment you pull into Wembley Park stadium you are hit with the unavoidable sight of this incredible structure. That first walk down Wembley Way makes your hairs stand on end. Once inside the stadium is equally incredible, fantastic views from every seat under that impressive arch, with the two big screens nestled within the upper tier seating. In the normal areas there are lots of food and drinks bars. Club Wembley is amazing also, as you are greeted personally by well-turned out, polite staff. Really feels like you’re entering a hotel lobby, with an attendant in the lift also! The seated area behind the stands in Club Wembley offers fantastic views of London too. Further good points include the hand-dryers in the toilets, which are so powerful they make the skin on your hands ripple, and I’ve got skinny hands! Dry in literally 5 seconds. Also the executive boxes are stylish and huge, fitting 20 in comfort!

The negatives include the expensive food and the fact that after midweek England games they force you out of the stadium, leading to the most unnecessary congestion on the way home. In fact it took me longer to get from my seat to Wembley Park (55 minutes) than from the station to Holloway! And if you want to sit in a comfortable stadium seat you’re better off at the Emirates Stadium.

You forgive all of this when you experience the electric atmosphere during a good England game. A rightly lavish centrepiece structure for English football. Now all we need is a World Cup-winning national team to play in it.

You can see. http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/stadiums/wembley-stadium-ha90ws.html#r41018 I was a big fan of the old wembley, the twin towers, wembley way etc. But, one fault, you couldn't have the perfect view from every seat as there were pillars in the way! But in this new one..amazing, the arch has replaced the towers but Wembley way is still in place and you have a clear view from evey seat. Amazing!

Dark and stuffy http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/entertainment-centres/wembley-arena-ha90dh.html#r40966 I second much of what Claire M says about this venue. The facilities and exterior are not a reflection of what you find inside. It's dark, dingy and not very pleasant. With competition from the O2 arena and many of the capital's smaller venues pulling in the big names, Wembley really needs to up it's game.

Wembley Stadiums little brother http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/brent/wembley/entertainment-centres/wembley-arena-ha90dh.html#r39449 There were plenty of places to grab something to eat and drink here but very little choice (just the usual hotdogs and nachos). Inside the auditorium it felt more like a giant cinema but loved how the guys came around with tanks of beer strapped to their back so you could buy draught beer from the luxury of your seat. Overall I prefer to watch gigs at the Stadium next door.
