<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - Belsize Park - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Fantastic atmosphere! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/cafes/starbucks-nw32ag.html#r43701 Wonderful place to chill out and the staff are really friendly. I have never been made so welcome in any other Starbucks during my years of travelling.

Well done guys!

Great Gastropub - perfect fore refuelling after a walk on the heath http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/pubs/the-magdala-nw32sb.html#r27505 It's not to everyone's taste, but it has all the ingredients to satisfy me. Good quality gastropub fare, Leffe on a tap and a lazy Sunday afternoon feeling.

I should also admit to eating there on a first date with my girlfriend. We're still together 7 years later so maybe I'm biased. We had a fantastic Banoffee Pie that afternoon and I've since had a truly memorable mushroom soup (with a splash of truffle oil).

They get extra points for having a Dyson Airblade instead of the standard ineffective hand dryer.

A Mixed Bag http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/pubs/the-freemasons-arms-nw31nt.html#r27074 I've had a mixed bag of experiences in this pub.

It was the subject of a huge redevelopment a few years ago when the whole place was overhauled. Unfortunately, the rumour was that they hadn't sized the kitchen properly and for a long time after the renovation it wasn't possible to eat at a table outside. This was a bit disappoointment as the outside seating area is large and is one of the best things about the pub. I'm not sure if this is still the case or not.

The decor inside is very chic and so are the people a lot of the time (I guess that is what you get with hanging out in Hampstead). The food is good, although it is wortwhile booking a table.

We've had a mixed bag of service, with sometimes with fairly offhand and snooty waiting staff, and other times very friendly.

Great Italian Food http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/italian-restaurants/artigiano-nw34ax.html#r19417 This is a great italian restaurant. They do special 2 and 3 course dinner for a reasonable price too. The service is very good and if its nearby it is a real treat.

Keats House http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/museums-art-galleries/keats-house-nw32rr.html#r17388 Keats House is a museum where John Keats lived from 1818 to 1820, and is the setting which inspired some of Keats’s most memorable poetry. In this house Keats wrote "Ode to a Nightingale". After he lived here Keats moved to Rome where he died of tuberculosis aged just 25. This house has been recently redecorated.

Good if you can hire the whole top floor for karaoke http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/chinese-restaurants/weng-wah-house-nw32ae.html#r17343 This is a nice restaurant if you can hire the whole top floor for karaoke. I've been here a few times and by far the best times were had when there for bigger parties and you aren't sharing the top floor and karaoke facilities with other parties.

I wouldn't rate the food as being that great. Don't get me wrong it is good, but I've had some good meals and some bad meals there. The portion sizes are a little small too and the last time I went there a lot of us left hungry.

I definitely recommend it if there are a lot of you and you can book out the whole top floor as the karaoke is really fun and the "Chinese Elvis" host is great, making sure everyone is having fun.

Nice Meal http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/american-restaurants/tootsies-nw32ag.html#r13738 I diasgree with the earlier review - i have been to tootsies a number of time now and have always had good service at good prices.

There is loads to chose from on the menu and there is even an Annabel Karmel menu for children - which is fantastic.

The staff have always been very friendly and attentive.

Don't be put off - give it a go

Quiet salon, nice location http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/hair-beauty-salons/holistic-hair-beauty-nw34ax.html#r12489 I’ve been here a few times and the staff are nice and pleasant. It is a bit expensive but I guess that’s normal for the area the salon is located in. It is a very quiet salon which is nice as you can relax while your hair is being done. The beauty rooms are nice too and there is a sauna which they recommend you use before having a massage treatment. I always leave lots of tips as in that are I have noticed that people there always go in and pay with plastic and don’t carry cash so never leave tips – the staff are so hard working and make your time there nice and relaxing and deserve a couple of quid extra – I think that because of the area people there have got money to spend and think it’s disgusting they don’t even leave a couple of pounds for the staff. Staff are also very helful in advising on products if you want to buy anything, last time I went I got a gorgeous smelling Aveda shampoo and conditioner.

We all scream for ice cream http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/ice-cream-parlours/marine-ices-nw32bf.html#r9531 Go for the ice cream, stay for the pizza (hang on, no, reverse that - ice cream really doesn't work as a first course). If I'm in the Chalk Farm area I always make a bee-line for this place, because it makes me glad to be alive. Justly famed for its ice cream, Marine Ices is also a superior pizzeria that is well worth a visit. The proprietor is immensely friendly, the food is great - proper pizza with a wide variety of excellent toppings - and the ambience is lively (though, as has been mentioned, the family-friendly nature of the place does mean that you run the risk of sitting next to a children's party).
