<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - Belsize Park - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Pubs - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Great Gastropub - perfect fore refuelling after a walk on the heath http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/pubs/the-magdala-nw32sb.html#r27505 It's not to everyone's taste, but it has all the ingredients to satisfy me. Good quality gastropub fare, Leffe on a tap and a lazy Sunday afternoon feeling.

I should also admit to eating there on a first date with my girlfriend. We're still together 7 years later so maybe I'm biased. We had a fantastic Banoffee Pie that afternoon and I've since had a truly memorable mushroom soup (with a splash of truffle oil).

They get extra points for having a Dyson Airblade instead of the standard ineffective hand dryer.

A Mixed Bag http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/belsize-park/pubs/the-freemasons-arms-nw31nt.html#r27074 I've had a mixed bag of experiences in this pub.

It was the subject of a huge redevelopment a few years ago when the whole place was overhauled. Unfortunately, the rumour was that they hadn't sized the kitchen properly and for a long time after the renovation it wasn't possible to eat at a table outside. This was a bit disappoointment as the outside seating area is large and is one of the best things about the pub. I'm not sure if this is still the case or not.

The decor inside is very chic and so are the people a lot of the time (I guess that is what you get with hanging out in Hampstead). The food is good, although it is wortwhile booking a table.

We've had a mixed bag of service, with sometimes with fairly offhand and snooty waiting staff, and other times very friendly.
