<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - Camden - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Night Clubs - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Live Recording Scouting For Girls and The Feeling http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/koko-nw17je.html#r47116 I won 2 tickets on myspace to see The Feeling and Scouting For Girls perform live to be televised by channel 4.

It was excellent the venue was very cosy and we watched from the balcony, we had a really good view.

I would definately go here again and it was a really good experience.

Naff Aucoustics http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/koko-nw17je.html#r15698 This place use to be the hip cool kids hang out but now it has gone a little stale and I have to say that now the novelty has worn off something as important as the sound of the bands playing has mad itself very clear. It sounds naff. Don't know if it was just the night I went there but something definately wasn't right. Come on KOKO, sort yourslef out. you use to be great, I'm sure you could do it again.

kookoo pricing! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/koko-nw17je.html#r15673 The venue is beautiful and has a lot of character. Personally I have never been to this on a club night, only at gigs but I quite like it. One needs to be careful when walking up and down the stairs as it tends to be a very dimmed lighting. Get the drinks down you at a nother place before you go here as the pricing is massively OTT!

OK, but poor stage views http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/koko-nw17je.html#r10442 The building is great, the decor plush and the sound good too... but what lets Koko down is the appaling views of the stage for live acts. Unless you are right on the ground and near the front, or right at the front of the balcony, you need to be at least 6ft tall to get a view. Any shorter, and you'll need to get there early and head to the front of the stage. Either that or cling to one of the winding stairwells, and deal with people pushing past you constantly.

Fab for a saturday night http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/koko-nw17je.html#r2004 This building was originally known as the camden theatre, since 2004 it is now renamed as koko. This is one of london's hottest clubs, the venue is enormous with a capacity for around 1,500. the best night to go here would be on a saturday its totally kicking. The surroundings inside are beautiful and artistic also very red. Also you would have to buy tickets in advance to garantee you a place for big live concerts which take palce in here.

Fancy Venue http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/koko-nw17je.html#r1482 This is an impressive venue inside - I saw Explosions in the Sky here. There are multiple levels and several bars. A decent place to see bands.

Grungy live music venue http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/underworld-nw10ne.html#r48 Growing up in North London, I think The Underworld was the first club I went to. It still attracts a younger crowd dressed up in the latest alternative clothes. As a venue The Underworld is good, but it's pretty grimy - your standard indie club. Drinks are cheap and there's an 'anything goes' atmosphere. The 80s night every Friday was always my favourite. The Underworld pleases many people, but it probably won't be for you unless you're under 20 and have a penchant for dressing down to go out.

Camden Dingwalls http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/dingwalls-nw18ab.html#r937 Great gig and club venue. Good size over three tiers to a small stage. The bar at the back serves quickly for the type of venue with plenty of staff. Always seem to be young travellers with not great English so can be a little difficult getting an order with loud music going. Seem a couple of bands here and due to the tiers can get a good view from most places if with want to be in the tick of it at the front of chill at the back. I haven't been to a club night here but I've seem nights advertised from Disco to Ska so looks good.

Lock 17 http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/camden/night-clubs/lock-17-nw18ab.html#r961 Two separate bars, one the ground and the other on the 1st with a mezzanine level. The down stairs has been out of all but one draft larger on both my visits and also ran out of Guinness last time. Also short staffed for offering cocktails as these can take a while to make and create a queue. Other than this a chilled little bar with cool looking night advertised. Also popped upstairs last time, the same music was playing but you could think it was a completely different place the stairs are on the outside and the decor is more open stone than the polished wood feel downstairs. Cool feel but did not stay long , just check it out. I would go back to test this out fully next time I'm in the area.
