Before the barmy days of health and safety you would find the staff from the hotel, especially the kitchens, with the stagehands and cast from the theatre in here having a few beers when the weather was warm.

Well the pies arrived but after about 50 minutes. Hungry...

The order was brought out wrong too with one of our party leaving after finding out her's wasn't even on the order taken.

Have to say the waitress didnt have much of a clue what was going on but the saving grace was that the pies were damn fine and filled the void nicely.

Well worth a look if you have the time.

The sausages are "award-winning" and of the same variety as found in Harrods and Fortum & Mason, I'm not a meat-eater so I can't personaly comment altho the posh fish-finger sandwich gets a thumbs up.

Good for a lunchtime, but too small to be practical in the evenings.

Grab a gourmet sausage sarnie & a pint for under £5 and as it's south facing you can also catch a few rays during your lunch hour. There' s only a pavement to squeeze onto so get there early.

There's even Molsen and Labbatts available on tap/bottle bucket. (not a reason for coming)

Not a bad pub but not a great one either. The main reason for coming is the high chance of getting a table.
