<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - Covent Garden - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Seafood Restaurants - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Great food, but best if someone else is paying http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/covent-garden/seafood-restaurants/j-sheekey-wc2n4al.html#r40201 The food served here is absolutely superb. It specialises in seafood and is a good place to experiment a little and try something new. Once you go for a full meal plus wine though the price soon racks up, so find someone with money to burn (or a corporate credit card) to go with.

Chain of Seafood http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/covent-garden/seafood-restaurants/livebait-wc2e7rq.html#r25806 A chain of seafood restaurants with five branches in London and one in each of Leeds and Manchester, Livebait aims to offer "a nirvana for all lovers of seafood". A cheesy corporate statement this may be, but one glance at the menu and I was already half convinced. I found that fish is good and fresh and staff is nice and helpful.

Lovebait! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/covent-garden/seafood-restaurants/livebait-wc2e7rq.html#r20142 If you're a fan of fish then Livebait is a good option. The restaurant interior is like a posh old-fashioned fishmongers with tiled walls and tables and booths. There's a bar area at the front of the restaurant, great for a pre-dinner tipple.

It has a wide menu with classics such as fish pie and fish and chips but also caters to the more exotic with thai fish curry and spicy sea bass. And of course oysters. Main courses are reasonable (starting at £13) and although a bit pricey, the starters are well worth it too - the whitebait or the smoked salmon / poached egg / potato rosti stack I can recommend (the latter if you're particularly hungry). They also do a well-priced set menu (useful for those going to the theatre nearby) and seasonal daily specials.

Two criticisms: the loos - make sure you you plan your trip in advance as they are tucked under the main dining area, which means a long walk back through the bar. The other is the wine list: it is extensive but I think it should also carry more full-bodied whites such as a Riesling and a Gewurztraminer to pair with the smoked fish and spicier dishes.

Good but Expensive http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/covent-garden/seafood-restaurants/j-sheekey-wc2n4al.html#r18850 This restaurant is a jewel of the Lonond' s gastronomic setting. It's a beautiful restaurant that consists in four large and elegant room covering with wood. The seafood is absolutly delicious and fresh. The dishes are simple but very good. The bad thing are the high prices, above all if you take wine!

Brilliant for fish http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/covent-garden/seafood-restaurants/j-sheekey-wc2n4al.html#r16922 This might be my favourite London restaurant.

As a fish lover this place is perfect. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, but with amazing service.

It is a shame that it is so hard to get a table and that it is quite expensive - but here I truly believe it is good value for money.

Thet don't hide behind the fact that they are a fish restaurant (the menu states that 'meat dishes available on request').

Book ahead and try this place out.

My favourite restaurant in London http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/covent-garden/seafood-restaurants/j-sheekey-wc2n4al.html#r2687 If I could afford to eat at Sheekey's every week (and could get a table), I would.

A superlative fish restaurant situated a stone's throw from Leicester Square, but totally unobtrusive.

The service is a class apart, the food (scallops, in particular) sublime and the interior chic and sumptuous, without being overbearing. Divine!
