<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - Fitzrovia - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Cafes - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Watch your pennies! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/squat-gobble-w1t4pj.html#r53301 Popped in for lunch recently, handed over a note to pay and turned to get some more change only to be told (very rudely) that I hadn't given any money at all. Apart from the fact that he'd taken my money but refused to give me any food, it was the attitude. They have too much competition for them to afford to be so insulting to customers. Shame, I used to like going there!

The £3 Pizza Place http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/italiano-coffee-company-w1t4lu.html#r52674 This is know as the £3 Pizza Place to me and all who know me. The food is fast and tasty and you can drizzle on as much chili oil as you like.

Mushroom I would recommend for the veggies and even though they are thin crust they are filling for what you pay. This is a good place to go if you are on a budget or in a rush. You can even take your family there. My dad loved it! He really loved me buying dinner too!

They shout out your name when your pizza is ready so make sure you give them something comedy to shout out. My favorite is Ms. Nachos.

Such a shame. http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/eat-w1t4tn.html#r16272 EAT is a very good quite price worthy place compared to other Sandwich/coffee shop places. But sometimes it seems that they just cannot get the staff. Here they are all really slow and seem over confused about what they are supposed to do. Also they hardly ever seem to have any of the hot food on the menu in store. And if you like your coffe hot/warm...don't go here as it is usually served medium to cold...yuck!

Weakest link in the chain http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/paul-w1b2hd.html#r12773 I have great love for products of Paul – but this branch just doesn’t live up to the standards set by the Covent Garden or Soho branches. Being limited by space (admittedly not their fault), there is not much variety.

The bigger issue is however, on more than one occasion I have had stale pastries from here. The cramped seating and sometimes surly staff also ruin it. Pauls in general are fabulous - just not this one...

Rather nice jacket potatoes http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/little-portland-cafe-w1w8bw.html#r3880 Another on my quest to discover all the good lunch places around Oxford St.

This is a little Italian cafe serving up the usual jackets, paninis and pastas for lunch.

My jacket potato was lovely, and about the size of a small car - so I'll probably fall asleep at my desk in an hour's time.

You can eat in, but if you're looking for peace and quiet you might want to go somewhere else. This is busy, busy place. The staff shout at each other, the kitchen is noisy and the customers are all sat near each other. It all adds to the atmosphere though, its a great fun cafe to visit. Even just standing in the queue makes your ears bleed. In a good way, of course.

Homemade food from a great family-run cafe http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/the-bay-leaf-cafe-w1t2an.html#r3603 I've been going to this little cafe just around the corner from Goodge Street tube and Pollocks Toy Museum since it opened and I can't recommend it highly enough.

The people who run it are super lovely and the food is always tasty homemade stuff. I would walk a mile for their fabulous moussaka and the chicken pie is always a winner, meanwhile their everyday chilli is brilliant. They are also into making sure everything is in sustainable cardboard packaging so you can ease your carbon guilt over lunch or breakfast from here.

The place looks tiny and most people are queuing for takeouts at lunchtime but there are also tables downstairs where you can hide away and have a good natter or while a bit of spare time waiting for someone or seeking respite from Tottenham Court Road. They also cater for meetings and parties, etc and it's good stuff I've sampled it for myself in the board room (stuffing your face during videoconferences across five timezones is such a good look I find).

Huge recommendation for this place as it is a really well priced, friendly family-run cafe that SO deserves to stick around and go from strength to strength. Enough from me, just try it and see if I'm not right.

Squat + gobble http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/squat-gobble-w1t4pj.html#r3414 I didn't go to this cafe for 4 years, based solely on the name. A mistake of grand proportions. Really great food, exceptional array of salads, with the potato being a highlight. The chicken and veg pie comes in a generous portion with a selection of the best salads of the day, highly recommended. Most mains are reasonably priced around the £5 mark, and available to take away as well. Really good place. And if it's too full, try it's smaller sibling just around the corner in Tottenham St.

Starbucks never again http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/coffee-republic-w1b3bh.html#r3242 Popped into this store Yesterday on the recommendation from a friend. What can I say "so this is what coffee tastes like" . I was so used to drinking what I can only now descride as coffee coloured milk in Starbucks, that I had forgotten what the real thing was.

Thank you Coffee Republic .

Service was better too

Good food, good place http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/fitzrovia/cafes/squat-gobble-w1t4pj.html#r3126 Squat & Gobble on Charlotte Street (and/or its teeny little sister round the corner on Tottenham Street) is one of my favourite workday lunch spots. Nice staff, speedy service, always good food and generous servings and it's well priced too. the fish finger sandwich is top and their daily specials are always yummy. superior lunchtime stuff.

take out or eat in, I'd really miss it if it wasn't there any more, always busy which is a good sign.
