<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - Hampstead - Entertainment and Culture - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Jazz at University College School returns after 10 year absence http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/hampstead/entertainers/jazz-in-the-lund-nw36xh.html#r3636 Jazz at University College School ran for 25 years and unfortunately stopped 10 years ago. It was considered, in its day, to be one of the finest jazz venues around, hosting world class jazz musicians form various continents and having the BBC record concerts from it. Ollie Rosenblatt who re started the venue last year has been trying to bring back some of the calibre of jazz which it hosted over the years and has done so with great success. Since its opening last October it has recieved great praise for the unique style of the venue, a theatre style layout. What is most noticeable is how responsive the audience is to the musicians and how responsive the musicians are to the audience. This creates a really electric atmosphere in which the musicians not only play great music but also put on a performance. Since its ressurgence as a jazz venue it has played host to some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world such as Martin Drew, Pete King, Clare Martin, Bobby Wellins, Spike Wells, Dave Green, Geoff Eales, Leon Greening, Alex Garnett, Henry Armburg Jennings, Mike Garrick and many more. During this season many of these big names will be returning to the venue along with the likes of Alec Dankworth, Martin Shaw, Clark Tracey, American jazz legend Marlene Verplank and many more. In bringing back this great tradition with which University College School is immensly proud of, the venue is adding to Hampstead's reputation of being one the main cultural centres in London. Jazz in the Lund is quickly becoming one of the top places to perform and listen to jazz in London.
