<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - Holborn - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Take Away - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Totally agree with other reviewers... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/holborn/take-away/hummus-bros-wc1b4da.html#r3035 I just tried this place for the first time and I have to agree with the other reviews- it's a brilliant little find. The food is cheap, tasty, hot and fresh, and feels a little more salubrious than your average anaemic soggy supermarket sandwich. Three of us ate for £15 and we were offered free mint tea at the end by smiling staff. I'll definitely be back.

Give (chic) peace a chance! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/holborn/take-away/hummus-bros-wc1b4da.html#r2926 The secret to Hummus Bros is their hummus. No big surprise there then, eh?

They make it fresh every morning and manage to ensure that the finished article is very smooth and creamy. The reason it tastes so good is that they don't put garlic in the hummus but give you a separate tiny container of mysteriously garlicky substance.

As well as the traditional chickpea topping (go for the hard-boiled egg option!) there is the choice of fava beans (mashed brown mexican beans), vegetable salad, mushrooms (stewed button mushrooms with caramelised onions), guacamole (ripe avocado blended with crunchy red, peppers, tomatoes & red onions), chunky beef (a seasonal, slow cooked stew with tender beef), and chicken (chicken sautéed in a light tomato sauce). There are usually a couple of specials which change daily. In the past the Chinese chicken and curried chicken have been particularly mouthwatering.

When Hummus Bros first opened it was an excellent venue for lunch. Nowadays it gets very busy at lunchtimes, often with a queue right out the door. It's best to get there before 12:15 or wait until after 14:30 if you want some peace!

Best value take away in town http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/holborn/take-away/benjys-take-away-wc2r3hu.html#r2724 Benjys has been my favourite take away for years now. The extra large coffee for 50p was a treat especially on a cold winters day working as a bike courier in the past. It was amazing value when they stated and any Benjys coffee is still better than a Starbucks as they are £2 or more. The early morning rolls are especially good value at 50p each. Egg and bacon muffins and sausage and egg muffins are all a must.

Freshly cut sandwiches smoked salmon and roast beef especially are good. As are the salads. Alll the usual soft drinks are avalible. The Danish is very tasty with a black cherry in it. Scones and other cakes are down right lovely. Staff are all Eastern European and always willing to be of service.

Overall no wonder there are so many Benjys they are such good value. They close down and open up all over Central London all the time.

Give peas a chance! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/holborn/take-away/hummus-bros-wc1b4da.html#r2367 So reads the Hummus Bros. slogan!

Started by two students who wanted a healthy, delicious, filling snack, and, discovering hummus, decided to make a business of it, this place really blew me away. We popped in for a light lunch and it was brilliant. Small and cosy, and very clean, this little place near Soho was a top find! They make their hummus fresh daily, and spin it into a bowl before adding your choice of topping in the middle (I had some mouth wateringly succulent sauteed chicken) and serve it with freshly baked hot pitta bread (your choice of white or brown) on the side. To accompany I had freshly made mint and ginger lemonade which was really sharp and had such a kick, but it was delicious and really cleared my palate.

We left extremely full and satisfied, and really not that much lighter in the pocket! 5 stars!

Good but not great Subway http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/holborn/take-away/subway-wc1x8sl.html#r445 A small branch of the franchise offering a range of "sub" style sandwiches made fresh to order. This particular branch has been open sometime now and whilst the staff don't always offer the friendliest service they certainly make a good sandwich , one with plenty of filling which doesn't fall apart when you try to eat it! The eat in space is minimal , so you'll more likely than not be taking away. The shops very busy on lunchtime being in a prime city area however the staff are very efficient so even when the queue is long the wait isn't. There is often a member of staff handing out multi buy vouchers outside too!
