<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - Kings Cross - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Bars - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en cool bar, slow service http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/kings-cross/bars/the-big-chill-house-n19nl.html#r24314 I had high expectations when I first went to the Big Chill House as my friends were shouting about it how cool it was. Have to agree that it is a pretty cool bar with split level, a roof terrace and good music. But be prepared to wait at the bar. It seemed to me that the bar staff didn’t know anything about serving drinks. I got so annoyed by the end of the evening that I stopped buying drinks. I would rate this place higher but the service is a bit of a downer.

nice bar to kick off a night out http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/kings-cross/bars/ruby-lounge-n19bu.html#r11178 This little bar is on Caledonian Road close to Kings Cross station. It’s got a cool layout with a round bar in the middle. The usually play loud electro music in the evening which probably isn’t everybody’s cup of tea. They’ve got great cocktails served by friendly staff that will even invite you to have a tequila shot on the house. Great place to kick off a big night out.

How to like Saturdays night out again http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/kings-cross/bars/clockwork-n19jb.html#r3654 Saturdays night out in London has often been synonymous for me with over crowded clubs in Soho or never ending queues in busy Brick Lane bars. What’s more, it’s very hard to find a good drum n bass night on Saturdays in London because they’re all on Fridays… But now there is Clockwork!

Ideally located within 5 minutes walk from Angel station, the club doesn’t look like anything special with the de rigueur bouncers at the front and its pub-like black and red front look. You can get in for free in the ground floor bar area (where there is still a DJ to warm up the atmosphere) but the best part is on the first floor. Access is £6 before 11pm (sometimes 12pm), and once you’re reached the dance floor area after you’ve managed to “climb” the tiny staircase, you know you’re in for a great night of fun and good music. They do special offers on beers (3 for £5) and vodka red bull (although bar staff could be friendlier) and always have amazing line-ups for such a small place (yes, the dance floor in more like a large bar than a real club one): from Zinc to Marcus Intalex or Shimon, all the best DJs in town play there. There’s so close to you that you can’t escape but bounce to the vibes, jump with the MC, go get more drinks, go down for a cigarette – a rare attribute for a London venue these days to be noticeable: you don’t have to pay extra to be allowed to go out for a smoke!!!! – and come dance again…and again. Until you realise it’s already 5am and you start to feel tired. No worries though, plenty of buses to central London in the area at this time of the night.

A must go - if you like_good_music!

Bar with a roof terrace! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/kings-cross/bars/the-big-chill-house-n19nl.html#r2123 The main draw for me was the prospect of the roof terrace, but once there I found the downstairs bar area to another great space, the decor is very comfortable and relaxed, with lots of open walking space, but with equally as much seating. The prices are fair to good for that part of town, a round of three drinks being just under a tenner, and the people add to the chilled surroundings, all in all, the names sums it up very well, definitely worth a visit.

ok bar http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/kings-cross/bars/clockwork-n19jb.html#r88 This bar is located in a slightly awkward place; it's not somewhere you pass when making your way through Angel. I personally don't like the decor much , I think it's a bit garish. They advertise movies, live music etc which is interesting, but possibly trying a bit hard.

Really Nice Place in Kings Cross http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/kings-cross/bars/the-big-chill-house-n19nl.html#r894 I went here last summer (06) after seeing them place an ad in the Guardian Newspaper. Curiosity got the better of me so I went down to check it out. The Big Chill has another bar near Liverpool Street but its small compared to this place. The Big Chill House is basically a really big house with 3 floors and a balcony. It's great to go on the balcony in the summer and the crowd generally is young and lively. On the weekend they have dj's playing and on a sunday afternoon they do a nice sunday roast for under a tenner. I really liked this place because its not pretentious like some of the west end bars I have been too but retains an air of coolness.

Ruby Lounge http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/kings-cross/bars/ruby-lounge-n19bu.html#r1114 This is a trendy and popular bar near Kings Cross station. Plays good music and has a pre club atmosphere at the weekend. Cocktails are available in happy hour. Be aware of Happy Hour as to get a pint could take sometime if you get behind a large cocktail order. Bar in in the middle so a little uncomfortable if you do not have a seat.
