<![CDATA[Greater London - Camden - South Hampstead - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Would definately go back http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/french-restaurants/little-bay-restaurant-nw64bt.html#r36553 Fantastic very cheap food with excellent surroundings ! Kitsch is the word I think you would use. You can eat there for a tenner. You pay cheap for decent food well presented.

Definately worth a go!

All on board?! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/pubs/the-good-ship-nw67jr.html#r17297 This place is alright as there are some quirky bands playing everyonce in a while but it's not really worth paying for unless you know someone in one of the bands as it is mostly just friends and family in there (well on gig nights anyways). The dancefloor is too small aswell.

Another Irish pub http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/pubs/mcgovern-tavern-nw67jr.html#r17150 The Irish settled in this area years ago and their legacy is left in the strong of run down Irish pubs along this route. This pub is no different to the others... a bit dark... and lifeless patrons.

Not quite there http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/pubs/the-good-ship-nw67jr.html#r16902 This place tries hard but I havent been there on a good night yet. They have a great big screen for sport.. but the comedy nights are lack-lustre and theres a hollow, stale vibe to the place. Maybe its just me. Worth a few tries.

Nice food, no atmosphere http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/restaurant-bars/osteria-del-ponte-nw66jg.html#r9910 This used to be your typical old man's pub until it became, I guess, an Italian run gastropub of sorts a few years ago.

I can't fault the pizzas, nor the prices really, but the pub is massive and always feels a little empty.

They also show the rugby and football regularly which doesn't seem to go with the feel of the place but I guess it gets some regulars and the few token Aussies through the doors every week.

The owners of the Osteria need to decide whether they want this to be an Italian restaurant, a sports pub or a local boozer - all of it rolled into one really isn't working right now.

Nothing special http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/french-restaurants/little-bay-restaurant-nw64bt.html#r5887 I want to love Little Bay. I want to say it's a little gem. But I can't.

It ticks so many boxes: good prices, lots of choice. It is a chain restaurant which feels like it isn't.

But, there is a but. There is a seemingly standard degree of ordinary-ness. My friends and I all concluded that our food was ok, but nothing special. It filled us up, but didn't leave us with that sense of satisfaction we derive from finding a really good value restaurant.

That was tinged with a bit of disappointment at the lacklustre service. No smiles here.

I will probably go back to Little Bay, because it is local and not too expensive.

My friends tell me the Farringdon branch is better. But I don't long to revisit the Belsize Road restaurant anytime soon.

Excellent starter - great Pizza http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/italian-restaurants/sarracino-nw63ay.html#r3191 Went to Sarracinos last night after it was recomended by a friend. I was expecting high standards as I had been told that it was the best pizza in London. The atmosphere in the place was lovely, it was bustling but luckily I still managed to get a table without boking. I would suggest booking though if going at the weekend. For starter me and my partner both ordered a selection of traditional Sicilian starters from the buffet, I suggest it is best to get this as we did with at least 2 people as then you get to try a bit of everything. These were amazing lots of combinations of fresh flavours perfectly seasoned. I ordered a pizza with potatoes and sausage with rosemary for main, It was a great pizza and tasted very authentic but didnt take my breath away, it was the same with my partners choice of Pizza with swordfish and aubergine. I think though we could have made better choices. The resturaunt I feel would also be good for vegetarians as alot of the pizza selectioned contained no meat. Overall it's a lovely resturaunt, I think I prefer the wider range and stranger slection of Pizza at fire and stone however this place is far more authentic, the staff are lovely and its a nice atmosphere. Me and my partner had a starter each, a pizza and we shared a bottle of house white, this averaged about £25 per head.

Great local bar http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/bars/the-gallery-nw63ay.html#r1504 The Gallery recently changed management, not that you'd tell apart from developing the food menu. Which is good - because for a number of years The Gallery has been the best bar in West Hampstead. It's down and dirty but still a bit trendy - a definite smattering of posers and real estate agents - but dont let that put you off. Good selection of beers and wines and a downstairs area which is more dedicated to relaxing (pianos and low lighting). Watch the crowd spill out the door in the summer and the clothes come off the patrons - hit the Gallery for a great night.

Black Lion http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/camden/south-hampstead/pubs/the-black-lion-nw62by.html#r711 Pub and guesthouse on Kilburn High Road. This pub has a Grade 11 listed interior. Lots of wood and an amazing ceiling. A good selection of beers and also sales cocktails. Comfortable to be in as it does not get too busy or smoky. The gastro pub style restaurant is no smoking. The bar is open till 12.
