The seafood was so delicious, especially the lobster a la mauritian. The atmosphere were excellent, with sega dances & DJ. I would strongly recommend you to visit and have a meal. Excellent food. They do various cocktails please do try the jungle juice. You have to try it out you will fall in love with the place. Is like you are actually in Mauritius itself.

]]> Thu, 19 Jun 2008 23:32:45 BST An awful end to the night... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/croydon/croydon/bars/sahara-bar-lounge-cr01dp.html#r43686 We hired Sahara Bar & Lounge (South Croydon) for my Husband’s birthday party and were told that we would just have to pay £100 for the venue, if we got over 75 people there. We had 82 people arrive. The Manager (Manraj) also said that he could do us a cheap champagne toast for £1 per glass, which we agreed to. At this point I asked if they could make sure that the champagne was served by a waitress at 9pm, as we would be pre-occupied with our guests. My Husband did offer to help them, if need be though.

The champagne was not served as requested and Manraj went on to blame us for it, although he hadn’t been there the whole evening. He also came in drunk and brought four bouncers with him, at the end of the party and said we should take it outside - We couldn’t believe it! He was not only blaming us for the drinks not being served (although he’d left no instructions with his bar staff to serve the drinks, as we’d agreed), but he was also asking us for £250 instead of £100 for the venue hire, threatening us with the bouncers. My Husband’s mother (a 75 year old grandma) was with us and very upset (as were we). Once I’d explained the situation to one of the bouncers and said we just wanted to pay the £250 and go, he & the other bouncers seemed embarrassed at having been called out to deal with this incident, as we are no trouble-makers: I’m a teacher who breaks up fights; I don’t start them.

The next day we realised we’d forgotten our ipod there, so we went to see them. Manraj was apologetic and said he didn’t mean to be rude and that he had been a bit drunk. He tried to shake hands with us, but we’ll never do business with this thug again.

I've lived in Purley 20 odd years and since the demise of the Cartoon in Croydon wandered like a lost soul looking for good live entertainment. This is it. Sadly no Shoo Shoo Dang Dang, but Smeggy makes the odd appearance with Rock of Ages, and they aint half bad. Kick the other Purley pits into touch and get yourself into a real pub..you won't regret it.

I encountered pushy salesmen who blatantly lied about the quality of the leather of the sofa I ordered and how two of the pieces fitted together. When I tried to address this with Mattucci they kept mysteriously disappearing and changing contact numbers. I was utterly disappointed with a very expensive sofa which was not as it was promised to be.
