<![CDATA[Greater London - Ealing - Northfields - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Quality Spirits http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/ealing/northfields/pubs/ealing-park-tavern-w54rl-1.html#r41631 Relaxed atmosphere in this smart local pub with ample seating at the bar or towards the back near the open fire. A large beer garden with the usual eco-unfriendly heaters for those cold summer nights if it gets too busy inside. Not your usual choice of spirits brands (e.g. no Bombay Sapphire or Jack Daniels but Plymouth or Wild Turkey) but a good selection of beers and extensive wine list. Bar staff can be a little inattentive - with the odd exception – even on the quieter nights. The restaurant serves great food and is the probably the best gastro pub in the South Ealing area.

Gastro http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/ealing/northfields/pubs/ealing-park-tavern-w54rl-1.html#r30581 I'm really surprised no-one has reviewed this place yet. It became the EPT after a refurb about 5 or 6 years ago, and quickly established itself as the best gastro pub in the area.

Always good beers with a wide selection. Nice sofas for relaxing with the Sunday papers too.

Foodwise, it's continued to be reliable, if somewhat more expensive nowadays (dinner here isn't a cheap eat, so more of a place for a special occasion now regrettably), but the quality is always good. It's got a good garden out the back, but especially if you're going on a winter evening or weekend lunchtime I'd reserve a table. They also do tapas in the bar which is good.

Singha it's praises http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/ealing/northfields/indian-restaurants/balti-naz-w54rh.html#r30580 We've been using this place for years for takeaways - it's reliable with decent service. Has a varied menu and haven't been disappointed with anything.

When we've eaten in the restaurant the staff are always very friendly.

Not posh food, but a good bet when you fancy a curry.

Get Inn!! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/ealing/northfields/pubs/the-new-inn-w55ex-1.html#r30574 Sitting in the New Inn on Sunday lunchtime we were talking about how the staff always go out of their way to make your visit a good one. We were there for the Sunday Roast Carvery, which has the be the biggest plate of Sunday lunch you'll get anywhere. Just pay at the bar then take your ticket to the carvery, where you can choose from several roast meats, usually a couple of veggie options and an olympic selection of vegetables.

It's got an enormous garden/patio at the back.

As for the pub, there's always some sport showing on the big screens, but if you're not a footy/rugby fan it never seems to interrupt the normal running of this friendly local boozer. Good beer too, if you're a real ale drinker.

Late Licence! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/ealing/northfields/pubs/the-plough-inn-w54xb.html#r19741 A great pub which was much improved by it's conversion to smart 'gastro' pub a couple of years ago. The real ales are always good and there's plenty of choice. It's got a good atmosphere, gets pretty busy on Friday/Saturday nights, and is open late some nights. It's got a good beer garden where I've spent many a long lunch in the summer. If you want to eat, reserve a table as it gets busy in the evenings. My only slight disappointment here is that the quality of the food doesn't always live up to the decor or the prices they're charging - but not enough of an issue to keep me away from a really good pub.

It's all Chinese to me...?! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/ealing/northfields/chinese-restaurants/maxim-peking-cuisine-w139qt.html#r19696 This place is a bit of an institution in Ealing. The food is always absolutely superb and I couldn't recommend anywhere more highly for great chinese food. It gets pretty busy Friday & Saturday nights so make sure you book a table. It's not a particularly modern or impressive-looking restaurant, nor is it the cheapest Chinese meal you'll find in the area. The takeaway option is good too - although last time I tried, they don't deliver.

Be aware of no refunds policy! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/ealing/northfields/novelty-products/bouncing-kids-w139qr.html#r9490 As a local shop which last year kept a petition book for the support of the small shops, I would expect a much more customer oriented attitude. While buying an astraunaut costume for my 11 year old son, I was told he could try it on in the shop as they did not do returns. When I said we had no time and we could surely return it if something was wrong with it, the answer was YES!. The costume was marked size 11-14 and should be reasonable sized. Before trying it on at home my husband noticed a tear in the fabric across the back. It was way too short and tight for my son, who is slim and at normal height for his age. Upon returning it to the shop we were met with an icy attitude and no service at all. They refused to even look at the costume, repeating endlessly that we had been offered to try it on and refused! We would have noticed everything if we had done that, they said. I remarked that I had often bought costumes off the shelves and that the lady had herself taken the costume out of the bag and not noticed anything wrong - or had she ?- and still sold it to us! Both my husband and I find this totally unacceptable. 12.99 is wasted and we had no costume for the party. I hate to think that other people should get ripped off in the same way. The staff could not care less. They expected us to feel sorry for THEM and understand they were not M&S. Next time I'll go there!

Very good cafe - 1st time visitor http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/ealing/northfields/cafes/skylight-w139qt.html#r9108 We visited on a Saturday while house-hunting. The food was good substantial home-cooked fare - baked potatoes, paninis etc. Smoothies looked nice, coffee was fine. Were very impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and the very child-friendly space. Enough room to have a buggy (there is even a buggy park) without blocking access. Toys at the back of the cafe. We were pleased to find this cafe in our "new" area.
