<![CDATA[Greater London - Islington - Angel - Health and Beauty - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Very disappointing....... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/beauty-salons/ki-mantra-n18eu.html#r52652 I booked my mum in for a facial as a treat for her 60th birthday weekend celebrations, I told her on the Sunday morning and she was very excited. We went in and the recptionist said that they'd booked it for the Saturday. They didn't even have the decency to call me to tell me on the Saturday to say that I was late/missed my appointment. If they had done that I could have made alternative arrangements, as it was everywhere was booked up and me and mum were left very disappointed.

So I really wouldn’t recommend this place, purely on the fact that we didn't even get as far as having a treatment.

cute little place http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/beauty-salons/charis-beauty-clinic-ec1r1uy.html#r51872 This is a very intimate experience with no other distractions as it is a very small salon. This doesn't mean that they don't have a high standard though. When I went I was greeted by one lady who did all my treatments, she was sweet and very experienced. I thought this was a great little gem to find in angel. And plan on going back for some more reatments soon..

awful service http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/cosmetic-dentistry/angel-dental-n19lq.html#r47077 I had expected good, or even better than good service from this practice. My teeth are fine and only need occasional care and cleaning. However to be charged over £110 and require 2 visits to only remove a peice of trapped floss is absurd. And when the initial reason you make an appointment is due to the floss, and have mentioned it as the main issue, to then require 2 visits with full costs involved.... The receptionist was also very rude to me when I questioned the bill, and indirectly the expertise of the staff. Do not use - there is no come back.

CUTTING BAR-ISLINGTON http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/unisex-hairdressers/cutting-bar-n19lh-1.html#r43425 A terrible place, not only can the staff hardly speak any english, (vital in this profession in my opinion); but my requests were blatantly ignored, I asked for a short bob, I got a badly cut peasent style, no shape, uneven, and looked like I had cut it myself after a drunken night out.

The attitude was also rude, sullen and inpatient even when I first walked in.

For god's sake, if you are a women, go to Rough Cut or Tony and Guy just down the road; and blank these ill trained opportunists; run for your life, or your locks.

NOTE: I am reporting these charlatans to Islington Trading Standards-be warned.

lovely place to yoga in central London http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/homeopaths/the-yoga-therapy-centre-n19hs.html#r15388 After visiting a couple of different yoga places in London this is the best I have come across so far. The rooms are not as new and stylish as in some posh yoga places but the place has a great atmosphere and the people are incredibly friendly. They have a wide range of different yoga classes, probably best to check out their website or give them a call. I can recommend the general yoga class on Wednesday. Another bonus is that it is not as pricey as most of the other yoga places in London so definitely worth checking out!

More enjoyable than I thought http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/health-clubs/virgin-active-ec1v7dg.html#r3123 Being one of these people who sit at a computer all day, both at work and at home too, I thought I'd get rid of the belly and join a gym. I also managed to get the missus to come along too, so I had someone to go with.

We checked out the prices online first, it's pretty expensive to be a member of a gym, but they have some off-peak plans which can be more suitable too. When we arrived to join, the salesperson didn't mention the other plans and tried to get us on the most expensive one. It was lucky we'd done our research, otherwise we'd be £20 a month down.

Anyway, we were both impressed with gym facilities, there's lots of running machines, weights, a 25m pool, spa, sauna and loads more. Everything is modern, high-tech and clean.

When we got inducted, the staff member "didn't have time" and only showed us a couple of cardiovascular machines, not the best intro to the gym, we would have liked to be shown more but everything is simple to pick up.

The gym can get busy, especially at the weekends and during the first few days of the week when people can be bothered to go, but there's enough machines for everyone and I've not been left waiting for anything so far.

The missus thought she wouldn't enjoy the gym at all, but now she actually enjoys it and says "it's easier than boring dieting". I enjoy it too, and would recommend Virgin Active to anyone wanting to get fit.

Take the short cut http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/unisex-hairdressers/rough-cut-n10pn.html#r1972 Despite having a name which veers dangerously towards being a yoof version of the 'Curl Up And Dye' school of hairdressing, essentially Rough Cut is a cheap, friendlier version of Tony and Guy.

I paid about £30 for a mens haircut which I couldnt imagine those GAP advert extras that Tony and Guy employ doing any better.

After the usual triple shampoo/head massage ambiguity you are offered decent coffee and good reading material whilst your locks are shorn. They usually won't ask you if you are up to anything nice tonight, or where you are going on your holidays - but the staff are chatty if you want a good ole' cockney chin wag about how expensive everything is now and how worrying about the War on Terror is giving you split ends.

Save your money and your bus fair - try Rough Cut once and you won't be disappointed.

Just what those aching shoulders need http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/beauty-salons/ki-mantra-n18eu.html#r1710 I go here for shoulder and back massages (bear in mind I have the upper body of a creaky pensioner), and the service has definitely improved over time. Downstairs is a juice bar and upstairs are cubicles where treatments range from massage, through waxing to manicures and pedicures. This upper area used to be satured with new age music and massuers peddling their new age theories... but thankfully on my last visit this had been replaced with Motown and burly Europeans who only want to sort your body out and leave you to tend to your soul.

A range of massage types is available, from relaxing to sports deep tissue massage. My treatments tend towards the harsher end of this spectrum, but the deep tissue massages are definitely worth the temporary discomfort involved if you have long-standing muscular problems. My skin is usually left slightly bruised, but my muscles feel so much lighter and looser.

A massage costs £35 for half an hour - I don't know if this is typical as I have not been to any other central London spas.

Above all, this is Lily Allen's favourite health hang-out - and if that doesn't make you want to go...
