Pushy salesmen, no-shows, hidden charges and rude staff all make for a hugely unpleasant experience.

Very nice! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/candle-suppliers/the-angelic-n10rj.html#r13409 Nice bar that whilst isn't physically far from it, is the thankful antithesis of the moronic Glass Works in the N1. Eclectic crowd and even more eclectic interior make for a pleasant experience. Split into two floors, it can get pretty busy in here. Confortable sofas are popular so get there early. The staff are friendly, and the toilets are frankly some of the best I've seen. Unique design (a fountain at the entrance), with the audio of a stand-up show to keep you entertained. And one of the few bars that serve Kronenbourg Blanc (if, like me, you like that sort of thing).

A superb pub, simply must be visited.

Comfy http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/candle-suppliers/the-angelic-n10rj.html#r2889 Excellent Sunday-afternoon-with-a-hangover-reading-the-papers pub, with lots of comfy sofas and decent comfort food. They also do smoothies and fresh juices, but why you'd want those in a pub I've no idea. There's some seating outside - the junction of Liverpool Road and Tolpuddle Street is hardly scenic, but it's not bad for people watching. The toilets are pretty special too, not that I'd recommend going to a pub just for the toilets.

Nice guys finish last http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/estate-agents/foxtons-n10pd.html#r2316 Everyone knows that Foxtons are b*stards. There's even a Flickr group dedicated to spotting their minis, which - having used one asterisk already in this review - i'd probably better not name. But hey, they're estate agents, and they get the job done (albeit for a vast fee). They had by far the best selection of houses when I was buying for the first time and in a purchasing process they held on in there for their commission, grudgingly helpful to the last. That said, their new Angel office is just the sort of vulgarity that seems to be encouraging the council to ditch the Mall. Foxtons, then - can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em.

Great Gastro Pub http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/candle-suppliers/the-angelic-n10rj.html#r1475 It doesn't get much better than this!

Great food and drinks in such a pretty environment. I can't believe a reviewer thought the Angelic a pretty standard pub, where on earth could this guy live if all pubs look like this.

Whoever owns this place (I believe it's privately owned) has really thought of everything, making for a really eclectic crowd who frequent the Angelic. Fresh juices, massive wine list, top quality beers, loads of freshly prepared veggie food, steaks, lovely building, great (cute...) barstaff, nice crowd and probably the best toilets in a pub anywhere in the world! What more could you ask for?

Go to a friendly estate agents instead http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/estate-agents/foxtons-n10pd.html#r1457 Foxtons have something of a reputation in London - and it's not a good one. Their suited-up estate agents can be seen driving round in the green Mini's with punk style graffiti on the side. Slightly odd for an estate agent to have punk designs on a Mini but I guess it makes them want to attract a younger market.

Their agents tend to be overly aggressive and argumentative, even for estate agents. They will find properties for you that they know you can't afford in the hope that they get a bigger commission from you. No, Foxtons, I don't want to get a flat that's more than £125p/m over my absolute maximum. I'm not stupid.

Strangely though, when showing you a flat, they will be very laissez-faire about it, despite being 40 minutes late for your appointment, even though they could have walked there in 20 minutes. They don't exactly win you over with their sales technique.

The only good things about Foxtons is their selection of houses and flats. Check their website. Most of the places are expensive but the range is pretty impressive. All the years of ripping down other estate agents signs must have helped.

If you do find a place at Foxtons, make sure you only see the one flat and don't look at anything else, otherwise they'll be phoning you up and emailing you all the time, giving you rubbish flats that no one else wants.

Local DIY shop http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/diy-shops/chapel-market-diy-n19ex.html#r147 Chapel DIY has a good range of DIY products, although items on the larger side are harder to find here, as it is only a small shop. The staff are friendly and helpful. Chapel DIY is more expensive than the larger superstores like Homebase, but is conveniently located.

Cheap shop. http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/angel/household-stores/tchibo-n10ps.html#r93 This is a very strange shop. It sells different products every week; from shaving kits to snow sledges. Prices are very low. There is also a sit down coffee shop in store. How Odd.
