<![CDATA[Greater London - Islington - Highbury - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en The true foodie's pizza http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/pizza-restaurants/firezza-n12lh.html#r51951 What can I say...the place has made me a complete pizza snob.

Firezza sell thiers by the metre; it sticks two fingers up at the conventional boring round shaped pizzas; the toppings are varied and exotic (where else would you find tiger prawns and Italian truffle oil on your pizza); they're wood fired...normally such pizzas are only available in sit down pizzerias and not for takeaway or delivery; and the desserts are groin-grabbingly good - sweet, creamy lushious Italian ice cream bursting with flavour and fantastic summer sorbets that you can enjoy even in the cold and miserable drizzle.

If you'd had a bad experience, I recommend you well and truly persevere...these pizzas put all the other deliveries types to shame.

Posh Authentic Pizza http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/pizza-restaurants/firezza-n12lh.html#r51626 I pick up Firezza pizza on my way home from work, they are often very busy but it is worth the wait. Easily the most intereting and best quality pizza toppings in London.

Very authentic, fresh and Italian. I'd reccommend sharing though, the portions are huge.

Treasure trove http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/shoe-shops/frogs-fairies-n51ua.html#r50758 This is a real treasure trove of a shop and has saved me many a trip into the west end for everything from sensible school shoes to the latest converse basketball boots in brilliant colours and designs as well as gifts for more children's parties than I care to think about. Highly recommended.

Ecuador meets Islington! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/cafes/el-rincon-quiteno-n78hg.html#r48722 El Rincon Quiteno, a little ecuadorean restaurant and take away, acts as a local cafe and breakfast place in the day, and turns into a bustling hub of South American style in the evenings, yet it is situated only minutes from the Holloway Rd tube, and if you blink, you'll miss it - and you'll regret it.

El Rincon is one of the most vibrant places I know in London, with its understated Ecuadorean style decor, it is like being in a South American home, and the latin music in the background accentuates this feeling.

But the piece de resistance is the food, served always with a smile, and delivered always with a cheeky joke. Great slabs of South American style steak, refried beans, the calamari - oh the calamari! I can't describe how tasty each dish is.

At Christmas the lovely staff, who now know me by name, caught me as I was leaving the restaurant, and gave me a Pannetone as a present. Where else in London with sort of hospitality happen?

Seriously, check it out!

Sobell? So far, so good! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/leisure-centres/sobell-leisure-centre-n77ny.html#r46644 The Sobell centre on Hornsey Road is definitely one of the best places to go to keep fit! With a huge variety of activities including trampolining, badminton and ice skating you can actually have fun while keeping fit!

What I love most about Sobell is that with an "Izz" membership card you can also use their gym facilities and 6 other leisure centres in Islington including Highbury Pool for those days that you may fancy a spot of swimming. In addition to this, the Izz card entitles you to discounts in various shops around Islington!

And...as a cherry on top, the staff are very friendly and down-to-earth!

Suburban Hideaway http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/philippine-restaurants/kika-n12lj.html#r43700 I visited this quaint and curious little restaurant on a sunny summers evening in June. It prides itself on being an organic restaurant with the freshest of ingredients and it didn't disappoint. The menu covered all the bases with Chicken, Fish, and Vegetarian options. It was prompt to arrive and honestly tasted fantastic, the vegetables were crisp, the chicken was tender and even the calamari was fresh as opposed to deep fried. I'd recommend eating in the outdoor area, it is like a well cared for suburban garden hideaway with a intimate feeling. You'll also hear rich verity of accents and languages from neighbouring tables. Great place, I'll be back. -Richard

WASTE OF MY TIME & MONEY http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/pizza-restaurants/firezza-n12lh.html#r43560 This is one of those places that I will never, ever use again!

Service was poor on the phone, two out of three people did not speak English, I had to repeat my order 5 times.

They said it will arrive in 45 minutes ( that was abound 8.30pm), an hour later they tried to say that that I order my pizza for 10pm!

Finally, at around 10pm it came cold, poor quality, simply burnt at the bottom and raw at parts.

I had to throw away most of it.

After a phonecall to the company, they were not intrested, but instead they started to send me text messages with advertisements & discounts! I ask them to remove my details from their data on the same day of my first and last order!Shocking!!!

If U Like Disgusting Burnt Chewy Pizzas Waste your Money @ Firezza http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/pizza-restaurants/firezza-n12lh.html#r43394 Ordered via urbanbite.com paid £13 for the smallest pizza for myself it was delivered in 1 hour but as i started it i noticed a strong burnt taste. I thought it was because the way it was cooked but no it was completely burnt covering the whole base so i wasted £13 & went hungry the rest of the evening.

What was worse is Urbanbite shared my mobile number & Firezza thought they could spam me with advertisements & discounts for their Vile & Disgustingly over priced "pizzas"

I am going to complain to the data protection about them as their excuse was they send the texts from "in house" no excuse for illegally using my contact details without my confirmation.

So watch out for these people poorest quality I've ever seen minimal cheese & toppings & just completely burnt

So if you have money to burn then go to Firezza Makes sense!

Squash http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/islington/highbury/leisure-centres/sobell-leisure-centre-n77ny.html#r43051 There's a really good well established squash league at this leaisure centre.

But they have really high prices if you just want to use the gym for an hour or so.

And the changing rooms are quite remote so I also think it would be quite easy to get mugged in them.
