<![CDATA[Greater London - Lambeth - Clapham - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Pubs - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Great location http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-falcon-sw111ru.html#r38805 This is a local pub right near the train station, so if you've missed one then its too easy to pop in here for a quick one, or an even longer one and forget the train altogether. Theres nothing to specail about it but no drink soaked carpets like you might expect.

Well funky http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-holy-drinker-sw111np.html#r38803 This is friendly and unpretentious in here with a very relaxed vibe, its also buzzing on key nights, like friday and saturday, but that adds to it, especially if you are on the pull, people say londoners arent friendly, thats so not the case in here. Cool sofas in interior too.

Lush Food http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-goat-sw111eq.html#r38799 I love it in here when its heaving, its got that real young london vibe to it, i like the fact there are separate levels so if you want a chat and catch up over food then head on upstairs to where its a little quiter. The food is great especially if theres a group of you and you want to share plates.

Sport pub http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-taybridge-sw115qn.html#r32194 The Taybridge is a good big open layout pub with sport and good serivce.

Full of real Londoners it's a good place to go when you don't want the crowds.

Karaoke night used to be Saturday but they don't run them anymore.

Beware of Sports days it is usually packed

Well, Well, Well http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-artesian-well-sw83jf.html#r32172 The Artesian Well is ideal for meeting a big group of friends. With 3 floors with different music it caters for all taste and provides an outdoor area for those who like to chuff!

Situated next to the Lost Society it provides a cheaper and easier option which also has the perk of staying open until 3am

Good Sunday Session Spot http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-holy-drinker-sw111np.html#r17887 I love this bar, the staff are really friendly and it's the perfect place to chill out with the paper and a coffee on a Sunday morning.

If you're feeling up to it, they have a great Sunday night boozing atmosphere. Can't recommend it enough. Only downside, it's a bit of an arse to get to if you don't live in Clapham.

somewhere a bit different http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-artesian-well-sw83jf.html#r3445 The Artesian Well is quite deceptive, it looks small on the outside but walk in and you find that there is whole lot more going on. The decor is really un-usual and interesting, with wall paintings, stained glass windows, extravagant sculptures and lighting.

There is plenty of seating on the ground floor if you're looking to chat, though this may well prove to be difficult as the music is quite loud. The first floor contains a dance floor and bar and was packed to the rafters on the saturday night I went. The second floor holds another dance floor. There is a mixed range of music and depending on your taste you can probably find something you like.

It cost £5 for entry to all floors which isnt bad, though the drinks were a bit pricey. Queue for entry was short, which is always a plus. I enjoyed the Artesian Well, it has a good vibe and is somewhere a bit different to spend a Saturday night

Decent boozer http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-falcon-sw111ru.html#r3260 They seem to have ditched the TVs here - maybe in a bid to smarten the place up. It used to be a decent place to watch sport, but now it's just an honest to goodness boozer.

I've never sampled the fare, but the extensive sausage menu in itself is worth reading.

Given its proximity to Clapham Junction station, it could very easily have become one of those grot, close to station pubs but seems to have escaped by a whisker, although you'll still find the odd 'character' in there.

On the whole though, not a bad place to while away some time while you're waiting for a train.

This goat's no donkey http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lambeth/clapham/pubs/the-goat-sw111eq.html#r3257 An infinite improvement on its previous incarnation, and one of those places that's really benefited from the smoking ban.

It's a modern pub serving a good range of booze to young Claphamites in sleekish surroundings. Food is served throughout, but if you want to eat away from the seething masses, the dining room upstairs is mezzanine style so you get a table to yourself but can still soak up the pub atmosphere.

Grub is gastropub style and a cut above your usual. Cote de Boeuf for two weighs in at around £30 including a generous portion of mash and veggies, and it would easily have served three; there's roast pork belly, haddock risotto, slow cooked lamb - you get the picture.

It's strange there aren't more places like this in the area, but maybe that's why it gets so busy at weekends - get down early or expect to battle for space.
