<![CDATA[Greater London - Lewisham - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Awful haircut, terrible customer service http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/blackheath/hair-beauty-salons/chandler-wright-se39rq.html#r50348 My haircut didn't resemble my request in the slightest, but I was too shocked to say at the time, and didn't want to discourage the hairdesser. When I called up to complain 2 days later the manager was barely apologetic and wouldn't offer for anyone else to fix my hair except the girl who did it badly in the first place. The manager wasn't prepared to enter in to any further discussions. Disgraceful. Best avoided if you like your hair.

Excellent http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/forest-hill/indian-restaurants/cafe-jeera-se233hn.html#r43746 By far the tastiest Indian meal ever. The Naan bread was out of this world and the Prawn Puree starter was fabulous. Service was exceptional, very friendly and courteous. Value for money was incredible, £9.95 for starter, main meal, vegetable dish, Naan and Rice (Weds/Sunday). Also very good and reasonably priced House White. Highly recommended

What a service. http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/lewisham/taxis/handicars-se135pt.html#r43631 I have use Handicars extensively in the past few years. They always turn up when they say they will, if they say 20 mins they mean 20 mins. When picking you up to go home they phone you when the car arrives outside and tell you how to identify the car.

Fantastic change!! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/lewisham/pubs/the-rising-sun-se137sn.html#r43483 On the way back from work I walked into the Rising Sun for the 1st time in years and what a change! The place is now a traditional pub / swanky bar. It has been refurbished to a really high standard and the interia has changed format completely. There are a few move beers availbale from what I can remember and long gone are the chavy lould mouths I remember from a few years back. I have since been back about twice a week for the last month with my grifriend and freinds and we are all in agreement that it is now a quality, resonably priced, well maintained drinking hole with some lovely welcoming people to boot.

Well done the Rising Sun for cleaning up your act!

Terrible customer sevice http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/sydenham/indian-restaurants/namaste-london-se265jx.html#r43427 We ordered a take-out from here recently, having seen a pretty impressive menu through the door.

The food sounded good and, even though it was a Friday night, we took the plunge. We were given 50-60 minutes as a delivery time and settled back to wait.

70 minutes later, I called to find out where the food was. "It left 5 minutes ago, it should be with you in a couple of minutes." 10 minutes passed and still no food, so I rang back.

I was then talked at constantly for 5 minutes by the guy on the phone, telling me why the food wasn't there.

When I finally got a word in edgeways, I told him this was our first time ordering from them and having to wait an hour and 25 minutes wasn't exactly good service.

This simply started him yabbering on again about how it's a busy night.

When the food finally turned up, it was OK, but nothing special.

My advice? Give Namaste London a wide birth!

The Pet Shop with Dead fish! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/new-cross/pet-shops/pets-at-home-se108da.html#r43267 I used to be a huge fan of Pets At home and always shopped at Pets at home 'up north'...

I recently moved to Greenwich and my nearest pets at home is this one Blackheath Road.

Very surprised to see the amount of dead fish in the tanks.. not pleasant...

So found a tank with healthy fish.. and they've since all died.. in the space of 4 weeks... very upsetting (and i'm not even a child! who would be more upset I guess!)

looked at getting more last week, and the state of the fish was frankly appauling....

The store seems to have a lack of staff.. One on the very busy till, and one who was wondering around helping people and had a queue..

Is this the reason the fish arent cared for...

Give this store a very wide berth...

Not the best pub in Lewisham http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/lewisham/bars/yatess-wine-lodge-se135jx.html#r42068 I dunno, I used to work here so perhaps my view may be a little tainted but they let girls work until 1pm and didn't even provide a cab home! Also the 'cocktails' they made up for a Valentine's Day special were rubbish - one was just vodka and lemonade with a umbrella - how is that a cocktail? Where's the third spirit? Haha. Other than that, standard Yates' pub really, they are uninspirational at the best of times. Always busy though, if that's all you're looking for.

The best local kebab shop http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/brockley/fast-food-takeaway/gulen-kebab-se42rs.html#r41414 On a drunken rant whilst at university I remember telling friends that one of thekey criteria for moving somewhere was the local kebab shop. I was wasted it was very late and I was trying to convince them that my local kebab shop in Kilburn was excellent and a reason for moving here.

However, when I bought my first flat in Brockley I forgot about the Kebab rule and ended up dining on inferior chicken and lamb shish for a couple of years.

Gullens isn't bad but it's not a patch on kebabs from North of the river. Manor House, Dalston and even Kilburn kebabaries run rings around it.

Gullen's is also the only kebab shop local to the station/stumbling distance home so by default it is the best local kebab shop. Worth a shout after a big night out but that's about it.

Nice chips http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/honor-oak/fish-chip-shops/traditional-fish-chips-se231dy.html#r39144 There is something about chips from a chip shop that you just cant get anywhere else. They really scoop up the chips for you and the portion for one is certainly enough for two people.
