<![CDATA[Greater London - Lewisham - Deptford - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en The Launderette in Deptford - 305 Evelyn Street, SE8 5RA http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/deptford/laundrettes/evelyn-street-laundrette-se85ra.html#r54429 I have done a lot of washing and drying recently at this Launderette in Deptford. I can recommend it to anyone. There are a huge number of washing machines and dryers. The rates are pretty reasonabe as well. You can also request ironing and dry cleaning. They also do contract cleaning from companies. The staff there are very pleasant as well.

Did a great job! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/deptford/piercing-tattoo-studios/kids-love-ink-se83pq.html#r23115 Professional and very thorough, highly recommended it and it's fairly priced as well. I was a bit apprehensive at first, they made me feel at ease and I didn't have to wait too long. Though you have to book an appointment, I waited almost 2 weeks and it was well worth it!

Probably the BEST Chippy in London http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/deptford/fish-chip-shops/the-golden-chippy-se108lf.html#r18459 Yes I love this place, a strong statement I know, but it's hard to find such nice chippies these days! Always fresh (the best) chips & yummy battered sausage.

The fish however is often still in its skin under the batter, put me off but my housemate loves it!

Staff are extremely friendly, family run place!

Fantastic!

Fantastic community arts centre http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/deptford/art-centres/the-albany-se84ag.html#r6605 Ive seen some great music and theatre performances at The Albany over the years. Highlights have included surreal clown Paka and his mechanical horse, hip hop theatre by Jonzi D, and rare performances by artists such as Junior 'Police and Thieves' Murvin. They also offer plenty of courses for the whole community.

The cafe food is pretty good (although a little expensive), especially when they offer a special menu such as Cuban food (celebrating the anniversary of Che Guevara's death!). With free WiFi access provided by Boundless, this is a great meeting place, and right next door to the fabulous Dickensian thrift market!

Rounded up prices http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/deptford/supermarkets/icelandcouk-se84ns.html#r2913 Iceland have started rounding up all there prices to the nearest pound. The problem is most supermarkets offer better value. A bought a tray of 4 pork chops for £3 as I was in a hurry I took anything on offer. Lamb Chops were £6 which seems a bit steep.

Good points about iceland are the lack of people waiting at the tills it is a then a quick in and out type of place. Fridges and Freezers are on sale in some branches but no this one.

Not much use http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/lewisham/deptford/job-centres/jobcentres-se84np.html#r2482 Recently refurbished and rebranded this Job Centre Plus offers little to the Public whom are not destitute. It has a clientel whom are the poorest in London as if you have a few thousand in the bank your not eligable to the £60 they give out anyway.

The new system of computer generated job searches gives details of jobs all over the country. Local jobs are no longer the place to go to the Job Center for or casual or part time work. These jobs have been handed to the immigrant community it seems.

So the job selection is poor and available at most other Job Centres. Are London Job Centers particularly useless? Back in 1980 I first used a Job Center they are it seems trying to become more hands on today in there patronising of the destitute a great plan by New Labour?
