I heard good things about this practice from my sis. I managed to go in for a check up and was pleasantly relieved to find a nice dentist! Everything was explained to me very well. Was having a drink with my mum, her friend and his daughter having a good time. We had orderd the food and I got up from my seat to go outside for a cigarette and the Manager groped my bottom. I was in shock and didnt know what to do at the time. I told my mum who promtly told her friend and we took our food to go! We shouldnt have even paid for it but we did as none of us had been put in that position before & certainly never by the Manager of an established business. When we asked for our food to be packed up the Manager came over and didnt even ask what was wrong he just stood there with a blank expression on his face! It ruined the evening & really put a dampner on the whole thing. You just dont expect this behaviour from anyone let alone the Manager of a restaurant!

The interior is light and bright with large windows and sunny yellow paint. Service is fairly quick, staff are polite. Toilets are very small, but clean. There are tables outside where you can watch the world go by, and the place is very popular.

And if that makes our eyes light up, you will be going to the right place.

It's a small pub, and not one that you will find just by walking down Wanstead High Street. But if you are visiting the area it is well worth the short walk down Nightingale lane.

The beer is normally excellent and there are a good selection of wines. The food looks good (I have never tried it) and the Wednesday Curry Nights seem to be very popular. Service is good, and you rarely have to wait long.

I keep going back.

The specials are always worth trying. Mostly, they succeed with the food but not always.

I've eaten here quite a few times over the years and there is no doubt that the food is good, but so are the prices which is why I would only give it 3 stars. For that money I expect at least this.

The smoking ban has done this place a huge favour - I avoided the place for quite a while as the tables are quite ....cosy and I abhor smoke with my meal. The service suffers when the place is busy and it is normally hit or miss whether it is good, acceptable or poor - I've had all three.

In short, quite a safe place to eat but it's no Conran - far too many rough edges.
