<![CDATA[Greater London - Southwark - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Hard Traditional Boozer http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/walworth/pubs/the-masons-arms-se172sb.html#r50240 old fashioned boozer, different times of day bring differing punters, with a bustleing market outside daily except mondays. Can be boring in weekday evenings, not always busy, however weekends can be good with disco or karokie. they got benches outside for smokers but no shelter from elements. Staff friendly and down to earth but not always on the ball, dubious persons pop in and sell a wide variety of goods from dubious origins most days, personally not the place of choice to bring family or colleagues, still a good spot to chill.

Lovely food and wine http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/dulwich/bars/green--blue-se228hj.html#r50199 The effort the owners are putting into this place really shows. Great food and wine - from ordering a few nibbles to getting in lots of bits and sharing tapas style, this hits the mark. The wine is why you should come here though, staff will recommend wine for you, and are very good at helping you find something new, unusual and tasty.

Sean is AMAIZING! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/herne-hill/hair-beauty-salons/shotgun-se240jp.html#r50145 I had my hair cut by Sean. He was incredible and such an asset. He has been sorely missed as i have notcied the shop has both lost the vibe and the customers (including me). If anyone knows where he is now i would love to know..

Good local toy shop http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/herne-hill/toy-shops/just-williams-se249hu.html#r48783 Assuming you can't stand the idea of going to Toys R Us as it is an utterly nauseating experience, then local toy shops are where it's at for non-digital kiddy fun. This places sells Lego, Brio, Doctor Who stuff, all the usual stuff, plus the odd wooden scooter, plastic sword, mad things to throw and catch etc. Not a great range, but helpful staff.

suppliers of 'special stuff' http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/dulwich/butchers/william-rose-se228hd.html#r47176 Great butchers. If you like meat, this is the place to come in the area. Everyone else feels the same way, as there are queues round the block most weekends, which invariably means I hardly ever visit. Can source you pretty much anything if they don't have it in stock, get your Xmas orders in early!

Absolutely delicious Chinese food - the menu is massive! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/walworth/chinese-restaurants/dragon-castle-se171jl.html#r47050 The most difficult thing about this place is possibly negotiating Elephant and Castle to get there. Then the next most difficult thing is figuring out what to eat, as the menu is really quite immense, and I'm fairly useless at choosing what to eat when there's more than about 5 choices!

I settled for some garlic and honey ribs - lovely sauce and not too fatty. Followed by scallops with stuffed prawns, fried rice and some soup. All absolutely delicious, about £20 a head, although we didn't drink. Not massively cheap, and if I had a bit more cash, I'd be tempted to try out some of the more exotic food items like the sea cucumber.

I'll be back at lunchtime to check out the dim sum here!

You wouldn't expect this kind of place in Dulwich http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/dulwich/cafes/jacks-tea-coffee-house-se229jd.html#r47049 This place truly is a hidden gem, slightly off the main drag of Lordship Lane's cafes, boutiques and baby shops. I had the most amazing breakfast here with quite simply the best scrambled eggs I have ever had in London. £5.95 for smoked salmon, eggs, toast, fresh juice and a hot drink. I think that's probably the priciest thing on the menu. Their lunchtime menu seems quite reasonably priced - goats cheese tarts, chorizo ciabatta, that kind of thing. Plus a variety of fresh produce for sale.

A lovely place with a small outside seating area, plus plenty to keep the kids amused.
