<![CDATA[Greater London - Southwark - East Dulwich - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Best breakfast for miles http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/cafes/blue-brick-cafe-se229hh.html#r53393 This has to be one of the best places for breakky in London.

its not gourmet but thats the thing. The chips are home made and they are even have proper vegie bangers.

The best bit is proper builders tea and lovely service.

The lady who runs the cafe is so friendly and there is a great family atmosphere to the place. It knocks the socks off other places like Franklins.

Good clothes/gift shop combo http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/gift-shops/ed-se229et.html#r53253 One of the shops occupying the fastest growing sector of the retail market - random, unecessary, but pricey and often uselss gifts. I say fastest growing, with financial doom knocking on our door at the time of writing it will be interesting to see how long shops like this hang around, I'm sure there's too many of them around these days! Anyway, why is this one worth your time? Well, they have a good range of clothes here too, for men and the ladies. they also seem to put some effort into sourcing their stock, rather than just generic stuff you find everywhere else. Staff are generally pretty helpful too.

Fun, friendly and professional piano lessons in East Dulwich http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/music-teachers/lorraine-liyanage-piano-teacher-se220ju.html#r53215 My 7 year old daughter really enjoys her lessons with Lorraine. Lorraine has a great deal of musical knowledge and presents this to Natalie in an informal style which is not overwhelming.

She is particularly motivated by the 'star chart' system where she receives a prize for every ten stars gained, and also enjoys listening to various styles of music in the lesson and learning about new composers.

Lovely boutique shoe shop http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/shoe-shops/stella-b-se229et.html#r52467 I popped in here recently to get some Fit Flops (which truly are an amazing piece of footwear!). It's a very small shop, but they always have size 8s available in whatever style I like, which is more than I can say for any other shoe store I have ever been in, I'm usually limited to one or two shoes in the whole shop. Great that they stock a unique range of shoes as well as big brands like Havianas and Uggs. The range is definitely not cheap, but all the shoes are beautiful, nothing like the hideous Davina Boutique around the corner - argh!

Fantastic museum for kids and parents http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/museums-art-galleries/horniman-museum-gardens-se233pq-1.html#r52062 In summary, this museum was built with the money from a Victorian tea-trader, Mr Horniman to you and me. Some of the original collections are here, and it is fascinating to see these at a time when most museums seem to have fallen over themselves to clear out the old and make everything a multimedia experience. the main gallery is a cornucopia of animals, insects, birds of a feather - all stuffed and mounted for your persual. The centrepiece is an enormous stuffed Walrus - reason enough to visit. Other reasons to come - cafe - normally full of squaking kids, but get here early or when the schools aren't on holiday and you can sit down with a very decent coffee. Music Room - There's a little music room for the kids hidden downstairs where they can let some energy off by banging drums, xylophones etc Gardens - the museum is set in very lovely landscaped gardens, chock full of plants and trees to give you a bit of year round interest to your walk. Goats/chickens/geese - there's a little animals section in the park - walk up the hill past the museum and there you go, by the bandstand, some squawking things to go and stare at. Aquarium - pretty big aquarium for such a small museum - kids love it, especially the coastal section with the whooshing waves. Anyway, it's free, kids love, and there's plenty here for everyone, whether it's an angry goose or a paleontological ramble round the home counties.

Absolutely delicious tapas http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/spanish-restaurants/barcelona-tapas-se228jy.html#r51450 I wasn't too sure about this as it's a chain of tapas bars, and I've got the East Dulwich mentality of hating anything to do with chains. However, I left here a very happy punter after feasting on gorgeous paella which was packed full of seafood, a chorizo starter and some deep fried stuffed peppers (can't remember the name of the dish). Service was great, will definitely be back here very soon. Meal with wine cost about £30 a head.

Best Indian on Lordship Lane? http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/indian-restaurants/tandoori-nights-se228ep-1.html#r46396 Thought the food here was fantastic. Place is quite small, but it means it doesn't get too loud. Food was very nicely done, really lovely flavours, and is a league above your standard Indian restaurants. But in the final reckoning, I prefer Ganapati just over the border in SE15.

great place http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/greengrocers/pretty-traditional-se229et.html#r44830 i'm a local, have been shopping regularly at pretty traditional for the last 3 and a half years and i totally disagree with the above review. produce is great and you can get almost everything organic or spray-free. it's actually cheaper than organic stuff from the supermarket and more likely to be locally sourced. and it's actually fresh and ripe and tasty! and i like the atmosphere, the individual service and the people who work there. there!

In two minds about this place http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/east-dulwich/confectioners/hope-greenwood-se229eu.html#r44791 I pop in about twice a year, when I specifically need to get someone some chcolate as a present. Otherwise, it leaves me cold really. Seeing as i love chocolate, and sweets in general, this place should be a favourite of mine. They do their own range of chocolate, which is great, and then lots of 'old school' sweets, which is the vibe the place is after in general. But when push comes to shove, i'm as likely to buy a var of something decent down on Lordship Lane rather than stroll up here.
