<![CDATA[Greater London - Southwark - Southwark - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Never again http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/southwark/motorbike-dealers/chasbikes-se10bl.html#r53123 I've used chasbikes for the last year or so, but never again, today really was the last straw.

I've always found the chap who runs the place pretty rude and abrupt. I've got used to the complete lack of customer service, basic things like a call to let you know if they have or haven't bothered fixing your bike when they said they would. I've put up with it up until now as the location is really convenient as i can easily pop there from work.

However not any more. After having a new set of rear brake pads fitted by them 2 months (about 300 miles) ago, I noticed a strange noise coming from the back brake and discovered that there was absolutely nothing left of the rear pads and that the disk was now scored. I took my bike back to chasbikes expecting them to put right what was obviously something faulty with the pads they provided or the way they were fitted, and maybe an apology (ha yeah right). No such luck they came out with crapy excuse after crappy excuse why it couldn't be their fault (all rubbish) and stuffed me for £130. Then to top it I got a call from them about an hour after I picked up the bike to tell me that the mechanic had forgotten to do up some of the bolts!!

Anyway I hope that this review lets you know what you're in for when you go there. One thing is for sure though.....

...you wont be finding me there!!

A very south bank film tank http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/southwark/cinemas/bfi-london-imax-cinema-se18xr.html#r52938 I had imagined the imax being somekind of Tussauds owned leisure hell, somewhere between Thorpe Park and an Odeon.

To my delight it was more like a theatre visit on the South Bank. The lower level path aound the edge is verdant and campus-ish, the cafe on the ground floor is lovely with friendly staff and cold, affordable beer, and the cavernous ante chamber outside the screening room is fine. The place has a kind of dilapidated fun palace feel, a bit like a huge common room, but it's none the worse for it. You don't have insipid popcorn showed down your throat washed down watered down cola syrup, and you can booze it up inside.

The screen itself is incredible - I saw the Dark Knight and was blown away. Going to the toilet mid film is an ordeal, so be warned if you have a similarly peanut sized bladder to mine. But enough about my bladder, enjoy the imax!

The best Evans in London http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/southwark/bike-shops/evans-cycles-se18ll.html#r46518 Saying this is the best branch of Evans is a bit like saying Hess was the least bad nazi, as I find the staff in Evans either ill-informed, unhelpful, or both. It got so bad a copuple of years ago I stopped going into Evans because I didn't want them getting their paws on my hard-earned cash. In this branch i've always found the staff have been pretty helpful, and I've even bought a couple of bikes here over the years. Also handy as a stop-off if you commute into central London from the South East. Just don't ask anyone about child seats in here, they haven't got a clue. Probably because they're too busy getting gnarly up Box hill, or whatever it is they do these days.

Superb Gallery http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/southwark/museums-art-galleries/tate-modern-se19tg.html#r43780 I love this place. Stacks of great art and sculptures to see. The current street art show is really good and work seeing. Best of all everything is free to see.

A hidden pearl. http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/southwark/spanish-restaurants/mar-i-terra-se10xh.html#r43450 Delectable and delightful. Not two words that trip from my pencil-drawn lips often, but both adequate desciptions of the small and perfectly formed tapas restaurant.

Now let's get one thing straight; Meson Don Felipe is the better known, better located tapas restaurant of the area. Don't be tempted to stray - a short walk here will never be a regret.

As it's a tapas restaurant, a protracted explanation of all the dishes is probably a little long-winded. Go for the pimento and anchovies would be two mere pieces of advice.

Not the biggest, and not fabulous service either http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/southwark/stationers/paperchase-se17ly.html#r42158 This is not the biggest Paperchase. And it's certainly not the most professional. I managed to spend about 3 minutes waiting for the staff to finish moaning about their manager and debating when they should go on their break before they served me. Although that said, I liked the fact you can buy decent cards and stationary on route to wherever you're heading rather than having to put up with the usual dusty rotating display stand of cards at most station's newsagents.

waterloo gymtastic gym http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/southwark/southwark/health-clubs/soho-gyms-se18tg.html#r41979 Used to be a member here for a year when I lived round the corner.... reckon it's the best in the Soho Athletic chain - bigger than the one in Covent Garden.

Really good yoga and spin classes at weekends and so far it doesn't look like they've over sold the membership.

It's arranged under 3 radio arches so you have to be used to a bit of rumble from above - but overall it's a good place.
