<![CDATA[Greater London - Wandsworth - Roehampton - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Fabulous work from a true perfectionist! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/wandsworth/roehampton/curtain-makers-shops/covers-up-sw155ea.html#r51940 I found “Covers Up” on www.welovelocal.com website, as I was in need of having some very expensive draperies shortened. This was going to prove very fiddly for me, even though I am a reasonably decent seamstress and have my own sewing machine.

But the quality of the drapes, the thermal lining, the backing and the extra 22” inches I didn’t need, would be a task too great for my skills. Jane Avery of Covers up is a perfectionist and extremely reliable. She came to the house to give me an estimate, a very fair and reasonable estimate I might add and took away the first panel to alter then and there. She delivered it and collected the second panel, altered that and returned it in just over 4 week’s time. I was told it would take longer and I was happy to wait but Jane managed to get the job done sooner and her work is exquisite.

I highly recommend her work, her cheery personality and her perfectionism that made the whole job worth every penny I spent – and truth be told, I didn’t spend that much in the overall scheme of things!

A Country Pub in London http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/wandsworth/roehampton/pubs/the-telegraph-sw153tu.html#r28382 Perhaps out of the way for most, but certainly not for Putnians, The Telegraph labels itself "the country pub in London" and delivers on the name. The huge garden area out front has a sincere chilled vibe which finds it's way into the interior as well. A separate dining room and large upstairs area mean you will rarely find it hard to get a seat - though for winter pints the cozy fireplace nook is the most coveted corner. Be warned to book a table for Sunday lunch however, particularly when a rugby match is on. I've given it three stars instead of four because at times the bar is simply understaffed. Saying that however, if you make it known you've been mucked about a bit, they will bend over backwards to rectify the situation to make sure you leave a happy customer. Kids and dogs very welcome.

Nice Day Out for the Kids http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/wandsworth/roehampton/museums-art-galleries/wimbledon-windmill-museum-sw195nr.html#r12331 Windmills are an example of life in days gone by and this small grain mill in Wimbledon will be a source of delight and interest to any children you take along...it has not worked since 1864 when it was closed down and made into accomodation but there are still parts of it that have been preserved to show how it was back in it's working period. There is information on how this mill used to work and how it varied with other types elsewhere in the UK. There is a cafe right next to the Windmill which is a profound favourite of mine, it serves home made dishes from breakfasts to pasta bakes, as well as a great selection of cakes and pies. There is seating outside and inside, it is a great family venue at all times of year and gets particularly busy at weekends. Then you can go for a ramble on beautiful Wimbledon Common.
