<![CDATA[Greater London - Westminster - Bayswater - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Pubs - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en GOOD TIMES HAD BY ALL http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/bayswater/pubs/the-prince-edward-w24ny.html#r43456 Stumbled across this pub a few weeks ago whilst meeting up with some old friends - It has lots of seating space outside so was perfect for us to sit ouside and enjoy the sun with a jug of Pimms. The atmoshere in the pub was great and the staff were amazing, friendly, efficient and extreamly welcoming - Which is rare to find in pubs today

Oysters and Guinness galore http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/bayswater/pubs/the-cow-w25qh.html#r11454 Tom Conran's tiny Irish pub is brilliant at what it does. It's simple, unpretentious (in relation to some of the clientele from nearby 'Notting Hill, darling!) and the food ain't half bad either.

I used to live in the area and it's a really nice pub to chill out in in the day, especially in the summer if you're lucky enough to get a spot in the sun outside on one of the rustic wooden benches.

It's also great for St. Patrick's day. People go crazy, there is a bar set up outside, too and the atmosphere is amazing.

Also, don't forget the small, more pricey restaurant upstairs. If you like good grub and a pint, you can't go wrong with The Cow.

Quirky fun in Little Venice http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/bayswater/pubs/the-bridge-house-w26ng.html#r4040 This has been a favourite after work pub for the past year I've been working near Paddington. It's on the corner overlooking the lovely Little Venice, with a small outside area, which overflows in the summer. The dark and quirky decour could scare a few people off, but I love its over the top theatre like glamour (look out for the curtains around the toilets). The Bridge (as it's informally known) is very small and can get very busy after 6pm, but this gives it a great atmosphere. Huge beer selection, not that I sample any of that (except for the Fruli!), but I'm told it's all good. Nice enough wine, prices okay. The food here is also really good. Service quick enough for a lunch hour and good value. I can recommend the retro - but posh fish finger sandwich and potato wedges. For something more substantial the 8oz burger is somewhat of a mission to finish but so tasty, and for the non-meat eaters the veggie sausage and mash is pretty special. There is also a comedy theatre upstairs which is definitely worth a visit.

The Cow http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/bayswater/pubs/the-cow-w25qh.html#r2896 Just over the road from the overly-popular Westbourne, The Cow is a slightly less mad place to grab a drink, but only slightly so on a sunny weekend afternoon. The pub food is good, but lacks many vegetarian options. (But what can you expect from an oyster bar?) Their coffee is better than most of the cafés I've tried in London so far, which is quite shocking for a pub, but a happy discovery all the same. Go on a weekday before 5pm, if you can. It's a nice, relaxing place to hang out if you avoid the crowds.
