<![CDATA[Greater London - Westminster - Mayfair - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Bars - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Expensive but ok http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/mayfair/bars/bar-43-w1k5rs.html#r22924 This place is very appealing and seems to attract a lot of people. Im not too sure why folk return as I find the drinks quite highly priced and it can be really dingy, although im sure they will tell you its romantic lighting. If you can afford to get drunk you might have a better time. Wear a short skirt to get in.

Good wine http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/mayfair/bars/all-bar-one-w1u1bh.html#r22915 I was here the other day and had a lovely lunch and afternoon. Its like home from home, and instead of searching for somewhere new to eat and drink, it was comforting to have some familiar surroundings. Some people are less impressed with how similar the bars are but i think its a selling point. Same menu too so i could have my usualy pitta and houmous.

Predictably mediocre http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/mayfair/bars/the-loop-w1s1ah.html#r9100 I agonised over the star rating for this review for a long time. It is definitely a place I would not recommend to anyone, but to give it 1 star seems a bit cruel, akin to toying with a dying animal. I don't want to descend in to a rant about the completely abject nature of this venue, so please forgive the briefness of my report.

The Loop was everything I expected, but only in the sense that I expected a soulless, over-priced (£7 for JD, £6 for a watery, unshaken cocktail), grotty pit, and I was not disappointed. This is your definitive work party/group birthday/hen-night venue, right down to the chicken satay skewers and nacho platters. The only person in the place with the right idea was the guy I saw asleep on one of the leather sofas at about 10.30 - he'd got his priorities right.

Posh Nosh http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/mayfair/bars/bar-43-w1k5rs.html#r1379 When Fresh'n'Wild opened on Stoke Newington Church Street they sealed the deal on the vibrant Hackney thouroghfare's claim to be the next Upper Street. Attracting scores of Guardian-reading yummy mummies, Fresh'n'Wild is a supermarket that panders to the grown up hippy in all of us. Everything in the store is expensive - but most of the stock is Organic, fresh, guilt-free and good for the planet. The cafe section is good (excellent Muffins), but the only seating is outside so is best avoided in the Winter.
