<![CDATA[Greater London - Westminster - Westminster - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en New Tourist Attraction http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/underground-stations/westminster-underground-station-sw1a2pw.html#r52928 Being an Ex Londoner on an unexpected visit I was totally shocked by the transformation of this station. No longer the dark, dingey, smelly hole it used to be . For a brief few seconds I thought I traveled through a time warp. Futuristic or what well done the designers well done the constructors and well done Transport for Lonodn for being so bold its what we need in this country.

PS Does MI6 have a secret entry on the lower floor ?

Ideal for kids if you're on the South Bank http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/japanese-restaurants/yo-sushi-se17pb.html#r51488 I've been to this branch a couple of times on weekend trips to the London Aquarium. Assuming you want to give the kids something reasonable to eat, amidst all the places selling rubbish aimed at families, this is a great alternative. It's close to the action on the South Bank, it's generally not that busy on a weekend so you can get the family round a table - making sure the adults sit closest to the moving belt of food - as it proves hard for the little ones to resist grabbing everything that passes. Food is your standard generic western sushi, but it's filling and reasonably healthy so a winner as far as i'm concerned. The kids like the unusualness of the restaurant too, and there are enough free chopsticks for the whole family to do naff vampire impressions throughout the meal.

Good value with papers! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/cafes/queen-annes-cafe-sw1h0bh.html#r51440 Title says it all really. Had a full English Breakfast, including tea/coffee, for £4.00. Included 2 rashers of bacon (or was that a mistake?) plus all the rest, incl mushrooms, etc. And there were free papers to read, and lots of space. Better than one I went into a few doors away recently. 'Nuff said. This one is the bizz. So why 4 stars, not 5? Add wireless internet access and I'll up it to 5.

Excellent, but crowded http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/bars/all-bar-one-se17py.html#r48497 This is our regular team celebration/get-together pub. Exotic ambience, great enthusiastic staff, quick service, lovely tapas and a whole variety of wines and lager. I simply love this place. It is always full of people and there is virtually no place to stand. But its fun anyway. Keep rocking!

Perfect for newbies and experienced runners http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/sports-goods-shops/run-become-sw1h0ph.html#r46119 Stocked with everything you need, but the most important thing here is the staff are very experienced and finding the right kind of shoes for you, especially if you're new to running. Apparently it's all down to if you turn your heels in or out when you run along, in addition to what you feel comfortable in. So if you're ever walking through this part of Victoria, and you see a few people running up and down the same bit of pavement while a shop assistant stares at their feet, you know it's new customers trying out different shoes. They get extra marks because you don't feel hurried into making a purchase, but this does mean you may have to wait at busy times, join the queue!

Nearly shat myself above London http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/tourist-attractions/british-airways-london-eye-se17pb.html#r43738 Well, I didn't know I had vertigo until I'd got in here, and of course, you can't get out halfway round. It was a suprise present from my then girlfriend. How romantic. Unfortunately I ended up remembering it for all the wrong reasons, as I sat, fixed to the bench in the middle of the pod, staring at my shoes, my hands, anything except looking out into the void, certain in the knowledge that any second now the whole wheel would start to pivot round and crash, apparently in slow machine, smack into the Thames. London looked great, well, the bits I saw through my fingers when i didn't have my eyes screwed tight. I was going to give this place 2 stars, but for the sheer rush of euphoria I had as I sprinted off the eye at the end of my 30 minutes of torture they get another mark. Once was more than enough...

Like fireworks?! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/tourist-attractions/british-airways-london-eye-se17pb.html#r42699 Heres a tip for you!! Book a London Eye flight for Bonfire Night this year! I did this last year and it's amazing... you can see almost every firework display in London... a real must... and i thought it would be more to book on that night, but it isn't at all... a standard flight cost us about £40, if your feeling extravagant you can order champagne too... the only let down was the ride didn't actually last that long, it's about 20 minutes from start to finish, but theres so much to take in you need hours!

I had high hopes for the London eye http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/tourist-attractions/british-airways-london-eye-se17pb.html#r42379 I had high hopes for the London eye (no pun intended, honest). Yet I was expecting to be slightly more thrilled by being a paying customer on one of London's hottest attractions. There is only so much enjoyment you can get from this structure on a cloudy day, so my advice is: if you want a ferris wheel, go to a fun fair and if you want to see London from a great height then do it from the London Eye on a clear, sunny day.
