<![CDATA[North West - Manchester - Manchester - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Night Clubs - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Good but not as good as it was http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/sankeys-soap-m46jg-1.html#r42640 Sankey's Soap is a Manchester clubbing institution, housed within a former Soap factory it overcame a massive refurbishment in 2006, some would say for the better.. others would say it took the soul out of the soap. Still worth a visit though if in Manchester.

Poo Na Na http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/po-na-na-souk-bar-m17db.html#r20186 They've gone for a Morrocan feel here with arches everywhere and low seating areas in alcoves. It's a good place for a party but you know when you've had too much to drink because you start walking into what you think are other rooms through arches and meeting people who look just like you. Then you realise they're mirrors and it's probably time to go home.

Someone pass me a bucket... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/satans-hollow-m16dd.html#r17346 As I am gonna be sick! Emo kids dancing and jumping up, down and about to their tragic emo music. In other words music one even can't dance to in the first place?! But later in the evening it gets better...wow bands like Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy are being played!! Sickening. I think the best thing about my night there (apart from the cheap booze) was that when leaving my mate went...Satan's? I thought you said it was called Santa's? I am a good Christian, I cannot stay here anylonger! I gladly left with her.

Oh yeah! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/5th-avenue-m17ad.html#r17311 Such a student hang laugh! Cheap entry (sometimes free) so so SO cheap drinks it knocks you silly in a matter of seconds. Music is usually the same indie/rock "alternative". The people mostly good and all just up for getting completely smashed. The place itself is massive and very popular so if you do not wanna que then come just slightly before 10 and you should be fine. Their foam parties ar fun but dangerous. I still have a scar on my leg from it...from 2 years back!

Student Indie Palace http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/5th-avenue-m17ad.html#r3947 Do you like sticky floors and cheap Red Bull? Do you like even cheaper Vodka, indie classics and Madchester from circa 1990? If you answer yes to just one of the above questions then you'll love 5th Avenue, well on a Thursday at least.

5th Avenue is a Manchester student clubbing icon, grimey, sleazy, always full, and lacking in any character what so ever you are guaranteed to have a great night out.

Jump on any bus from Fallowfield, off at the BBC, past the tramps at the HSBC, (that wasn't meant to rhyme) cash machine on the corner, out at 2am, down to Raj for a kebab. A great night for thousands of students each an every week.

Rock on! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/jillys-music-box-m16eq.html#r7469 This is Manchester's finest Metal nightclub. Its also pretty good for live bands from time to time, album launch parties and general mayhem! It has 4 rooms, playing a mixture of punk, Metal, some Indie and Industrial. The music is always ace and the dance floor is always full! The toilets leave something to be desired but given the quality of the music, its not like you want to spend ages in there! The beer isn't too badly priced, there are usually some good offers on. It does get busy so make sure you arrive before 12! On Friday nights, the club is open til 7am for Rockworld's infamous'all-nighter' - everyone should do this once in thier lives! Bar staff always look pretty bored and aren't very chatty, this is probably the only downside. They do serve everyone quickly though. If you like your metal, then this is the only place to be seen!

Jazz-tastic... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/matt-phreds-jazz-club-m41lw.html#r6089 Matt and Phreds isn't a place I usually go to. Just half way down Oldham Street, this little jazz bar always has something going on. I'm not a giant jazz fan...but sometimes you just have to go with the swing! If you get there early you can bag a bottle of wine pretty cheaply but the prices hike up after that. If you are looking for a'cool' place to hang...then this is worth a try.

Basic Club... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/cafe-saki-m145tp.html#r8672 Saki bar is new to the start of the Rusholme curry mile and is quickly making a name for itself as a new up and coming music venue. The stairwell/fire escape up the side of a restaurant is a little to be desired for...and I did encounter a weird smell of fish on my first visit there. Yet that did not put me off! The upstairs room is large enough for a 50 capacity to be comfortable/ 100 standing with a little smoking balcony. I have seen quite a few good bands there and DIY nights seem to be springing up left right and centre. So it is definately the place to go if you want to see, new, edgy, live music nights.

Reliable http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/night-clubs/5th-avenue-m17ad.html#r8072 This is Manchester's finest and best established Indie Nightclub, playing all the greatest hits and modern indie music you could ask for. Its underground and gets pretty hot and sweaty as its always really busy but you rarely have to wait ages for bar service and there are always plenty of drinks offers so its generally a cheap night out. Very popular with students and locals alike, get there before 11:30pm as it gets busy and especially at the start of Uni terms the queue to get in can be massive. A great night out
