AMC cinemas http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/cinemas/a-m-c-cinema-m34en.html#r8074 This cinema is located just off five ways. It is probably the cheapest cinema in the city. Especially if you have a student's i.d. card, you save much more. They show all the big blockbusters, you can buy tickets online as well. Highly recommended.

Supporting the Arts http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/theatres/the-green-room-m15ww.html#r6108 A small theatre specialising in new and experimental performances by local and touring companies, The Green Room provides a great deal of resources to support the arts in Manchester. A bustling and pleasant coffee bar attracts plenty of visitors, while live bands play on the balcony on many evenings. Prices are good, and visitors are guaranteed an interesting night out.

CornerHouse http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/cinemas/cornerhouse-m15nh.html#r8075 This place is located at the very top of famous oxford road on manchester. It empasses a cafe, art gallery and a cinema in a separate but adjacent building. The cinema tends to show plenty of small budget independent films from all over the world and also the occassional hollywood blockbuster. If you happen to get there early for your movie, you can spend time in the cafe or checking out the ever changing exhibitions. Its definetely a place that you will visit over and over especially because the cinema is always screening great films. Highly recommended.

Museum of Science and Industry. http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/museums-art-galleries/museum-of-science-industry-m34fp.html#r8080 You cannot visit manchester without visiting this museum. It reveals all about the history of manchester's industrial past. It tells all about how manchester was the cotton capital of the world in the 18th and 19th century. The entire city's economy was boosted by the huge cotton trade that took place at the time. There is also a very good exhibition of transport innovations in air, rail and road. There are a number of planes, cars, and trains exhibited that you cannot afford to miss out on. There is alot to see in terms of science and innovation to the social changes that accompanied the industrial and urban development. It's a good place to visit for the entire family or to take a friend visiting the city.

Theatre http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/theatres/royal-exchange-theatre-m27dh.html#r8499 The Royal Exchange is a truly unique theatre, with a consistently excellent output. The main theatre is a modern structure within the old exchange building. All the plays here are performed "in the round" so feel very intimate and you really do get close to the action. However, some of the seats can be slightly uncomfortable particularly on the higher levels. There are a handful of seats at most that have a restricted view of the stage. The Studio puts on some of the more one-off and unusual productions, that Manchester plays host to. It's a great place to see works by upcoming producers and independants. The set and production design at the Royal Exchange are second to none, and the plays I have seen here never failed to impress. Concessions are offered to under 25's for shows on a Monday. Although that is no use to me, but it might appeal to some.

Cinemania http://www.welovelocal.com/en/nw/manchester/manchester/cinemas/cornerhouse-m15nh.html#r6105 One of Manchester's longest standing cinemas, the Cornerhouse serves up the finest in independent, international and classic films. With three screens, there is plenty of choice, and special events such as the Sunday Breakfast Club and the Spanish Film Festival attract large crowds. Providing a real alternative to multiplex, blockbuster fare, the Cornerhouse is a genuine Manchester institution.
