<![CDATA[West Midlands - Birmingham - Birmingham - Eating, Drinking and Nightlife - Italian Restaurants - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Italian Dining at it's Best http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/italian-restaurants/piccolino-b12hs.html#r43473 Piccolino's is the newest restaurant to arrive in Brindley Place, and as such will have to make an impression to persuade people away from the ever popular (but actually overrated) Bank, and the other chain bars round the corner.

They have no need to worry however. The £1.5million they've spent on turning the old Brasserie Blanc into a stunning dining experience has been worth every penny.

The decor is much more intimate than ever before, it's comfortable and feels and looks the part. The new kitchen with open pizza oven is always a welcome sight too.

When it comes to the food - there's no complaints either. The steaks we had were among the best we've had in town, veg was cooked to perfection and the rest of the meditteranean fare on offer was incredibly tasty, without being overpowering.

Service was fast, once they'd worked out what we'd ordered and taken away what we hadn't! First night teething problems presumably to blame for that, and it did appear slightly chaotic at times with up to 6 people at once serving a table of 4.

Pricewise, it is on the high side, however you DO get what you pay for and it's certainly worth it. It's not as expensive as Filini's at the Radison, but actually the food is much better.

If you need a place to go for a special occasion, where the food, wine, service and atmosphere are just right, then give Piccolinos a visit. The other high end places in Brindley place should be running scared.

A cut above. http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/italian-restaurants/piccolino-b12hs.html#r40085 Brindley place is a lovely setting, and there are a number of restaurants to choose from, but I think Piccolino will give these established establishments a run for their money.

Enormous potted olive trees outside along with marble topped tables and padded seats are instantly eye catching and inviting and inside is no disappointment, very contemporary and stylish.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. I can recommend the calamari, swordfish, new potatoes and the selection of desserts to share!

We had 4 courses and drinks and it worked out at about £35 a head so quite expensive and we had to wait quite a while for the food but overall very good.

Wonderful Birthday meal http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/italian-restaurants/cielo-b12hs.html#r37722 I've passed this place coming and going from work - so I decided to take my wife there for her Birthday.

Wow - great menu, atmosphere was fantastic and the staff couldn't do enough to make sure our meal went well.

Would totally recommend you take your loved one there for a bite to eat.

cibo bello http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/italian-restaurants/cielo-b12hs.html#r26489 Smart, stylish - quite nice for a first date. If you like Italian food and want to impress, it has a lovely ambience. It's not over priced, though it's not cheap.

One of the best... http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/italian-restaurants/san-carlo-b25bn.html#r24794 ...Italian restaurants I've been to outside of Italy (and I've been to many). Not cheap, but then the place was full last time I went with people queuing up to eat so they have obviously aren't over charging either.

Italian Style in the City http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/italian-restaurants/cielo-b12hs.html#r24608 A great place to go for some really good Italian food in Birmingham. They do a set menu before 7pm but all the food is delicious and a good price. try the Cielo Merlot if you're a red wine fan! The staff are very attentive and even fold your napkin for you when you've nipped to the loo!

Bella Pasta http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/italian-restaurants/bella-italia-b24hq.html#r21849 Very much standard Italian fare.

Nothing special really.

Although the food is not bad, its certainly not incredible. The prices are beween £8-£12 for a main course but my advice is to pay a bit more and go somewhere a little more authentic.
