Just wonderful http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/pubs/the-village-inn-b56ry.html#r68307 This place has really come on since I visited a couple of years ago. It's been re-styled and looks a lot fresher and cleaner. The sound system and visuals are much. much better than when I visited last and the entertainment line up is equal to anything that gay london as to offer. If you are there for a weekend, you MUST give Saturday nights a go. The music is really retro, some 80's stuff I haven't heard since.............well the 80's really. It's great to hear music different from the same old same old dance stuff you get in most venues. DJ Lotty is vile with a capital V, whatever you do don't ask for a request........ouch! his music and banter is great and it's all good fun! A must on any visit to Brum!

Grotty, past its prime http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/pubs/fountain-inn-b56ql.html#r67216 Shabby, smelly, mainly (old, fat and ugly) men. Toilets are a disgrace as is the logic defying 'dark' room and huge extension that is NEVER full.Once known as being the best men only bar around, chocka with fit guys, mainly gay skins, bears, leather and rubber crowd. Now tired, frequented by old men and for some odd reason a huge asian crowd. Over priced drinks and horrid decor. Overseen by a childish, bitchy guy who needs to realise that it's 2009 and that his vile penny pinching, cheap attitude, borne from the panic of a failed expansion plan, does not 'work' ,when punters will simply go elsewhere and have a better night. Customers are fleeing the place in droves and numbers are waaay down on previous years.

Nice pub http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/pubs/the-newt-b24dh.html#r54787 a good pub, nice and quiet during the day for a pub lunch. the regulars seem to be old men, so maybe not the best place for young women. the location leaves a lot to be desired, i didnt feel particularly safe entering or leaving. nice food and staff though.

closing down ???? http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/pubs/the-hill-b25qp.html#r54692 I have found this pub to be warm and friendly family pub. Has a range of aged customers. Its in the middle of the city centre near to shops and train stations. Serves as a great escape from the business of city life as its down one of the side streets off new street. Cosy venue, reasonable priced food,

if you can spot it http://www.welovelocal.com/en/wm/birmingham/birmingham/pubs/yard-of-ale-b24np.html#r54690 despite being busy on the evenings - service is quick and efficient, with reasonable prices on a good selection of drinks. it is in an excellent location just a couple of minutes walk from 2 well serviced train stations, a bus station and the centre of town. cant go wrong really
